"Chris Shuck came out to help us on Christmas Eve and he was very understanding about all that we were dealing with when we shared the great lengths we were going to in order to continue to function in our home without having the funds for a plumber. To our surprise it was much more affordable than expected and we wish we called sooner. Chris gave us some great advice on products we need to stop using and ones that are best. He also came by two additional times at no extra cost to ensure that laundry drain was working properly. I feel lucky to have found Reddi Services."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Homes need solid construction to survive a hurricane, including these parts:

  • A secure foundation at the right elevation for your home’s flood threat level

  • Hurricane straps to secure your home’s foundation

  • Waterproof basement sealant or rubberized sheeting that directs water away from the foundation

  • A strong, well-attached roof that’s firmly secured to the framing

  • Shutters or roll-down window protectors that you can close outside to prevent broken windows

  • A garage door bracing system to keep high winds from caving in or tearing off the door

  • Deadbolts to keep your exterior doors in place against wind pressure and floodwater

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.

Depending on your design preferences, the storm door can match either the front door or the trim. If you want the storm door to blend into the frame, you can choose a storm door that matches your home’s trim. If you want to draw attention to the front door, choose a storm door that matches your front door.

Yes, professional installers use weather-resistant materials to protect the dish and cabling from environmental damage.

Installation begins with removing existing doors if necessary, measuring, and accurately fitting the storm door frame and panel for a tight seal.
