"Our cracked tiles were replaced as scheduled and the work was "top notch"; however, I was disappointed when we were charged extra for the mortor that we felt should have been included in their quote. They dyed and sealed the grout in our two bathrooms and that turned out great. The grout looks really good and clean. Everything was cleaned up when the job was completed."

"Corbin was the first to respond to my call. He was nice and polite. Did the job right away. Kept me informed of everything. Sent receipts. Excepted a check. Did a fabulous job in matching the grout color to my tile and went beyond and redid some bad areas around my sink areas. He cleaned regrouted, sealed. Iâ ll be calling him to do my floor later on. Thanks Corbin and youâ re welcome for the homemade soaps. Enjoy! Would definitely recommend him to others."

"Seamlessly, the job was completed as described (actually better!), great communication & customer service. The gentleman who came took pride in his work and paid attention to every detail. The tile looks brand new and the grout makes all the difference!! Changing the flooring was something that was discussed but when we saw the difference and it was a fraction of the cost, we had to hire Groutsmith ***** 5/5 no questions asked!!!"

"Regal did an excellent remodel on all three bathrooms! Our Master bathroom is now a room we love to spend time in. The quality of workmanship, quality of products used, and professionalism was exactly what we were looking for when we started this remodel. Doug and his team were prompt, kept to the schedule, came in on budget, and the final result was better than expected. Our goal was to hire one firm that could do all the work from start to finish, with one point of contact, and we could trust. We even left for vacation twice during the remodel and they continued the work while we were gone. That’s trust. We Remodel all bathrooms, three, from the floor up: new floor, showers, bathtub, tile, baseboard, moved plumbing and electrical, and all new faucets, sinks, glass doors, and custom cabinet. I highly recommend Regal, and Doug, for your remodel. We’ll be hiring them again for our next project."

"This was the second project we worked on with Mike and will not be the last.  I recommend him without question.  He is probably the most kind and professional tradesman I have ever worked with.  He is punctual  but did let us know when he had trouble in advance and was EXTREMELY accomodating when any changes needed to be made, usually on our part because another contractor working on our kitchen was not as professional as Mike is.  He is full of little ideas to improve our designs while keeping it true to our original plan.  He did an amazing and meticulous job with our glass subway tile backsplash.  I feel so confident with  Mike's work,  he'll gladly show you all 24 grout colors when its time but he will have already pulled out the perfect color.  He knows what works to make the job look its best.  He finishes the job on time, on budget, and with exactly enough leftover tile for emergencies and not any more. No surprises.  Do not hesitate to call Mike at 2nd Generation Tile.

Repair Bathroom Tile questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.

Curbless walk-in showers are considered the best shower option for older adults because they are easier to step into and have room for a bench inside. Users often have room to roll a walker or wheelchair into the stall. Be sure to install a handheld showerhead so the user can rinse off easily without needing to move their body to the shower stream.

Installing a walk-in bathtub can be worth it if it improves the user's safety and independence. However, because walk-in tubs require a large investment, not every homeowner has the means or desire to install one. As an alternative, some homeowners prefer to install a walk-in shower and transfer bench instead. Walk-in showers cost between $1,150 and $8,000, making them far more budget-friendly in comparison.

The average cost to convert a tub to a shower is around $3,000, but prices can range from $1,000 to as high as $15,000. A more typical range is between $1,200 and $8,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the amount of plumbing work required, the size of the shower, and the type of materials and fixtures chosen. A prefabricated shower stall is a more budget-friendly option, while a custom shower with features like luxury tiles, unique tiling, smart technology, or accessibility features will be at the higher end of the cost spectrum.

Whether you need a permit to demo your bathroom depends on the project scope and local regulations. Major structural changes require a building permit, like pulling down a load-bearing wall or removing lead paint or asbestos from an old bathroom. If you’re relocating plumbing, you might need permission to cap off the existing water and sewer lines. Because requirements vary by municipality, if there’s any doubt, always check local building department rules.
