These guys are the best in the business. They moved us out of our Brooklyn apartment in 2012 and stored our belongings in the interim. I wouldn’t recommend anybody use this company. At the beginning of their work we were not living at the house so we could not monitor what was going on. We started to have a little more contact with them about 3 weeks before we were going to move back into the house. He did not come get us to let us pick out new fixtures for the house and he put up what he wanted. We ended up purchasing our own but were never reimbursed for the cost of what we purchased. He cheated me out of kitchen cabinets. At least $3000 was to be spent on the kitchen cabinets. He went to purchase them from a surplus store and did a terrible job putting them in. The knobs are all crooked and off centered. He broke a pipe in my backyard which cost me another $1300 to have repaired, broke a pool table that will cost more money to replace and even though he was responsible for all of our electrical work he charged me an additional fee to run the wire to the new air conditioning unit in my attic. He ruined both the front and back yard and I had to pay others to fix them. Our bathrooms, which hadn’t been damaged in the tornado, were ruined because they kept all of their painting supplies in them. He built the laundry room incorrectly and I couldn’t open the door to it until I stacked my washer and dryer and had to pay an electrician to move the outlet so I could use the room. He has not paid the subcontractors he was using for the work. I’ve tried to contact him quite a few times and did finally get in contact with him to give him an opportunity to finish the work, but had to have others come out to remove debris from the yard and I am now getting estimates to have the work that’s left finished."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/al/tuscaloosa/i-and-j-home-repair-reviews-6509482.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"The Garage Door Guy Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"AL","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Heather M."},"reviewBody":"Called on Thursday before a holiday weekend; they offered to come out on Friday, but I opted to wait until the following Tuesday since it wasn't an emergency for me and it would be easier for me to be home. I talked with Dean, who gave me a two-hour window of time for Tuesday morning; Kevin (who did the work) was concerned that he would be a little late and left me a message, but did indeed arrive within the specified window. He looked at what the problem was (garage door stopping and reversing repeatedly when opening and closing); he confirmed it would be a service call fee of $85, which is exactly what I wrote the check for when he was finished. He'd fixed the problem and done some general service (lubricating hinges, etc.) all within about half an hour; he showed me what he'd done and provided some general information on what had caused the problem to begin with in case it caused problems again in the future. I appreciated that they came prepared with a new garage door opener (just in case), but also appreciated that he didn't even suggest installing it when it was clear that the opener I have is very functional, but just needed some adjustments. I also noted that he offered praise to the installer who put in the door (through a local home store, not The Garage Door Guy), citing that the fit was unusual as was the structure available for the installation of the opener itself (it's an old house, with some quirks). It's nice to hear professionals appreciate the work of other professionals. I would definitely use them again, and will recommend them to anyone!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mn/rogers/the-garage-door-guy-inc-reviews-110440.htm"},"position":7}]}

"The Smart Home features they installed, such as thermostat and door locks, etc. do not always work. For example, the Honeywell thermostat can no longer be operated from our phones and is difficult to install. Remote door locks are also unpredictable."

FAQs for door service projects in Pickensville, AL
Door installation usually takes three and four hours, including removing the old door and frame, fitting the new door and frame in place, shimming it to make sure it’s perfectly level, and making adjustments to the hinges and locking mechanisms to ensure proper functionality. A door-hanging professional can replace an interior door in between one and two hours. Door installation will take significantly longer if your installer needs to create a wall opening, and it can take less time if the existing door frame remains.
It’s usually better to repair damaged interior doors and replace damaged exterior doors, but it depends on the type and extent of the damage. Damage to interior doors won’t threaten your home’s security, so if a repair or partial replacement of only the door (not replacing the door frame) is possible, that route should save you some money. Damage to an exterior door can compromise your home’s security, so it’s often better to replace it entirely, especially if there’s frame damage. You can ask your door installer which course of action is best for your situation.
The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an80-by-48-inch door.
If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.
It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.
