"I discovered petpee.com when I was searching online for ways to remove the urine odor from our 10’ x 14’ Karastan wool oriental rug. I had planned to clean the rug myself, but I was intrigued by the videos I saw on YouTube of petpee.com’s owner, Meir Martin, demonstrating how he cleans rugs like mine. I searched for petpee.com reviews and was blown away by the number of glowing reviews that had been written by satisfied customers. I knew then and there that I wanted to turn my rug over rug to Mr. Martin to finally get rid of the urine odor that had been building up for over 10 years. I called him and got a quote of $1079, which included shipping both ways, cleaning the rug, and a guarantee that I would not be able to detect any urine odor when my rug was returned to me. After getting over the sticker shock, my husband gave me the green light to send the rug to petpeepee.com. I think he was more interested in getting rid of my constant complaints about the urine odor than the actual odor itself! Mr. Martin walked us through how to pack up our rug for shipping via UPS, having us send him pictures to make sure we had prepared it properly. I loved receiving videos and pictures of the rug being cleaned and getting updates from Mr. Martin throughout the process. We received the rug back on September 2, and it smelled as fresh as it did the day we bought it! It looked so clean and new – worth every penny we paid to have petpeepee.com clean it. How long carpet dye lasts depends on the quality of the dye and the application process. At a minimum, dyed carpets keep their color for a year, but some can last longer. Many factors affect how long carpet dye lasts, including the amount of UV rays that hit the carpet, causing it to fade. However, the good news is you can have your carpet dyed annually to keep up the color.

It’s best to have a pro stretch your carpet before having it cleaned. A loose carpet is more difficult to clean, but a stretched carpet will be fixed firmly in place once the job is done. Cleaning a carpet can loosen it depending on the technique used. 

Stretching a carpet should be a one-time job. If by re-stretching you mean doing it a second (or third) time, it’s probably better to replace it altogether. Most carpets are expected to last anywhere from five to 15 years, so if it’s past that timeframe, you may want to shop around for a new one.

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.

In some cases, stairs without carpet are actually slipperier than carpeted stairs, but if the carpet is brand new, dirty, or just slick, it may seem like your stairs are the most slippery ones in existence.
