"Watry Homes replaced the roof and chimney on our duplex. The roof was approximately 21-22 square and needed a complete tear off of three layers - including the original shake. The chimney was rebuilt from just below the roof line. We originally asked for an estimate to just tuck point the chimney but it was well past that point. The roof was finished in two days. They were careful of our neighbors' houses on either side of ours and cleaned up afterwards. The chimney took a little bit longer but no worries. Overall they did good work and charged a fair price. I can't ask for more than that.

"Politely said, Sparky is the boss.
We needed electricity and HDMI ran from a cabinet in our great room up above our fireplace so we could mount a TV.  Also needed cable and electricity ran to a wall in our master bedroom so we could mount our TV on the wall.
Sparky showed up on a Friday afternoon, five minutes early.  Assessed the situation, and before he left, said he would look into how much parts/etc would cost, and he would call me with a bid.  Sunday night I received a text from him with a bid, we set up a time for him to come for the install on 8/22 at 9am.
Sparky showed up at 8:59, and got to work.  I came home from lunch to outlets installed where I had asked, cable ran, everything was great.  He could not find the specific outlet cover for AC / Cable, but it will not be visible once the TV is mounted, so it is not of real concern.
I was a little uncomfortable mounting the brackets for our TV on the walls, as the studs were located in odd places - and I didn't trust myself to mount a $1,000 60" plasma anywhere that wasn't on a small stand.  ha!
I asked if he would mind installing the mounts if I kicked him some extra $$, and he gladly obliged to stay longer than he had originally intended.  He even went so far as to use his own screws/mounting bolts that were FAR superior to the ones that were provided in the kit.
Couldn't be happier.  Should we plan on doing any other electrical work / lighting in the future, Sparky will be our first call.

"Brian and his crew returned to my building on a warranty followup- their previous work done wonders for my flooding problems, but my foundation walls are apparently made of swiss cheese and there was one small seepage problem remaining which only shows up during a "100 year rain event".  Brian indicated that they go for 100%, not 99% and scheduled time to come back out to my building to address the issue under the warranty (a.k.a. free of charge) from the original work.  They came back out, dug up the foundation again, and found a crack hidden behind an old hasty concrete patching job that had been tarred over, which was determined to be causing the remaining seepage.  They repaired the crack and were done with the whole task in only hours.  I am a repeat customer, and can't say enough good things about Crawlspace and Basement Waterproofing solutions, they are friendly, helpful, and most of all, stand behind their work!

"Rich came to give us a quote the same day we called. He told us what items could be cleaned and saved and what had to be disposed of. He took the time and explained everything thoroughly. The next morning his crew came on time and got right to work. Rich and the guys did a great job cleaning our basement. You would never know their was ever sewage in our basement. We are very happy with their work. We highly recommend Custom Craft Environmental."

"Panda Construction came in to tear down a finished wall in the basement so the basement contractors could get to the east wall of our home. Bryan, from Panda, came in to do the estimate and was very easy to talk with. I explained that I needed the finished wall taken down and then after the basement work was completed, I needed a new wall put back up. Before the work started, we had a refrigerator, countertop, mirror and cabinets along the wall that needed to be taken out, lights needed to be moved and light switches needed to be set to their new location. Panda came in on time, and in one day had the finshed wall in the basement removed and disposed of all of the trash. They cleaned up after themselves and were fantastic. They even helped move the refrigerator upstairs so I could easily have it picked up for donation. They then came back two days later to put back up the finished wall with a crawl space behind. They kept in touch with me to find when the basement people would be done and came in a day early to start working. They put up the new wall, replaced a pocket door with a better fitting sliding door, copied the baseboard trim that is in the rest of the room and matched the color of the walls. They sprayed the walls so they had the same texture as the others and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up after themselves everyday. Vaccuming the floor before the left and making sure that all was clean and ready to go. Bryan and his crew also found a large wire that was out of code and fixed it for me for a very reasonable price (which is included in the amount above). To go even above that, one of the days that they were there - my duratub overflowed while doing laundry. Bryan stopped and helped snake it out so there would be no additional problems. I was completely grateful!! He recommended that I use a drain sleeve for the washer hose to catch the lint. They were done on time and did a fantasic job! I highly recommend them to anyone who needs any type of remodeling work done!!"

"We has a sewer back up in the basement late Thursday night.  Dirty water was everywhere.
Donny came to my home Friday afternoon and looked at the basement to determine what was needed.  He told me he could have a team at my home to do the clean up the very next morning.  The three person team came over Saturday morning as planned and went to work. One member of the team worked with me to save as much of our belongings as possible, while the others worked on decontaminating the basement.  They were very helpful, patient and professional.  They worked diligently all day.  They came back on Monday morning to remove the damaged drywall and set up the huge dehumidifier and fan the fully dry the basement.  They came back this morning to check that everything was fully dry and take back their equipment.

My basement went from a disaster area that stunk to being super clean and smelling very good!"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

You likely need to hire an architect for your new house design and build, unless you have the design skills and experience with building regulations and standards needed to get your plans approved. If you are able to meet the design requirements, you can hire a draftsperson to create the blueprints for the builders to follow.

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

Buying a house is easier than building one from scratch. Buying an existing home is almost always faster, even if you need to make renovations once you move in. When you hire the right team to build a home, they will simplify the design and build phases so that there is little guesswork throughout the process, but building new construction will almost always take longer than buying an existing home.
