"We had Alek install a composite fence. He worked hard to find the color my wife wanted. I also added removing a large planter box from my neighbors yard which would be right by my fence. He worked out a great deal for us. Alek goes above and beyond customer service, even supplying me with grass seed and straw to repair my lawn. It was very wet the whole time he had to work and it chewed up the lawn some. He fixed it with his machine, he didn't have to even get me the seed and straw, he's very good. The fence looks amazing, we get nothing but complements on it. I would recommend Alek to anyone."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.

Yes, fence posts need to be installed below the frost line to ensure stability and prevent heaving caused by freezing and thawing cycles. The frost line is the depth at which soil freezes during winter. By placing posts below this line, often around 3 to 4 feet deep or as recommended for your specific region, you reduce the risk of the ground shifting, which can lead to leaning or unstable fences. Adequate depth provides better anchoring and helps maintain the fence's integrity, ensuring it remains secure and upright throughout changing seasons.

The decision to add a dog fence to your property depends on several factors. A fence can be a good investment for pet safety, particularly in areas with hazards like busy roads. It helps contain dogs prone to roaming or those with a powerful hunting instinct, It also prevents accidents and neighborly disputes if your pet likes to venture onto their property. Also, by installing a traditional fence, you will also gain privacy. Some local regulations may also require homeowners with dogs to install a fence.

Glass fences are extremely strong. You can drop 10mm thick tempered glass on concrete and it wouldn't break. Considering that certain types of glass are bulletproof, glass has the capacity to be exceptionally durable and resistant to breaking. Certain types of glass, like laminated glass, are designed to not shatter at all, but rather break into giant pieces.

A fence installer or homeowner should place a snow fence upwind of the desired drift area, while keeping the prevailing wind direction in mind. When installing a snow fence, its posts should be sturdy, as they will be the weakest areas in terms of tensile strength. Posts should be buried at one-third their height and placed no more than eight feet apart.
