"Unique Landscaping basically did a renovation of my yard- taking out all trees, leveling it out, and putting down all new sod. It looks amazing and we would definitely hire them again!"

"Mike is awesome !!! Very reliable, take accountability and delivers on-time and with quality. We hired Mike after a friend of ours referred him to us. We had been struggling to find a responsible contractor to get our kitchen, bathroom, and basements remodeled but after meeting Mike and going over the process we knew he is the real deal. We initially did just Kitchen and bathrooms and we were extremely satisfied with quality, timeliness, cleanliness and on-budget delivery of a project. Mike was very reliable and vetted sub-contractors that he hires and all of them do a very good job. Mike kept us informed on progress - what will be done this week, following week, etc - that made it very easy for us to plan activities that we wanted to get done differently. We then hired Mike again after 6 months to get basement remodeled and are very delighted at how it turned out to be. We added a couple of rooms, entertainment area, bathroom, and small kitchen - work was done professionally, with quality and on promised schedule."

"These guys were great! I hired them to install a laminate floor & baseboards in my lower level & they completed it quickly & professionally! I then used them to install a vanity/sink & toilet. Although the my bathroom was not plumbed for this, they were knowledgeable enough to get it done! I will continue to use them for all my handyman needs. Just a couple of nice guys with great talent!"

"I had 4 custom-made window panels with condensation and fog. My intention was to only replace the glass (not the frame). I finally came across Apex when I saw their business truck parked in my neighborhood, Little Italy. Their sales rep gave me an in-person estimate within the week. His demeanor was very polite and mindful upon entering my property. Custom-made windows take time to manufacture so I had to wait roughly 2-3 weeks for the installation (tip: this timeframe is way quicker than what four other competitors were able to offer). When the installation team arrived, they, too, were very polite upon entering my home. They handled the removal of each glass with exceptional care. My home was built in the 70â s, and with some major home projects, there may be a hurdle. In my case, one part of my ceiling aged with time and sank about half an inch, preventing easy removal of the window pane. A jack was used for minimal roof elevation. In no time, the old window pane was ejected, leaving no damage. This is an example of their exemplary problem-solving skills. Upon installation of all windows, each was caulked, leaving no gaps. My window panels look exceptional and do a better job with insulation. The price was far reasonable compared to competitors. Their time in my home took about 3-4 hours. The installation team leader was extremely efficient, keeping me apprised of the process."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

When choosing a drywall anchor, consider the weight of the object you're hanging and how much weight the anchor will need to support. The heavier the weight, the stronger the anchor you'll need. You’ll find the weight capacity on the packaging when shopping for anchors.

Also, remember that you can use more than one anchor when hanging something on the wall. If you're using multiple anchors, divide the object weight by the number of anchors to determine how much each will need to support. If you need help deciding which drywall anchor to use, you can hire a handyperson to hang your objects.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
