"Working with Greenscapes was a great experience from the very beginning. We had several companies come by for estimates. Greenscapes not only provided us with the most detailed estimate addressing all of our goals, they had by far the best price. Communication with Josh was outstanding. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns that I had and at no point did I feel uncomfortable or uninformed with what was happening. When the project started, the crew was prompt and very professional throughout. They went above and beyond for us in every way possible. We had a back yard full of rocks and a few very large boulders they removed without charging us for and even put in top soil and reseeded the areas where the boulders were without any additional charges or fees. The end result was simply awesome. We are so happy with the work they did for us. We have had many contractors/companies help us with various projects inside and outside our home, and none have been as great to work with as Greenscapes. My wife and I recommend them to anyone!"

"I started off wanting a simple concrete work done on a pathway and patio. Marvin showed me paver options that I hadn't previously considered and even though they increased the price of the project, I am so much happier with the look of the end result. Everything is beautiful. The crew did fabulous work. My husband and I are looking forward to enjoying our new outdoor spaces for years to come."

"Jayden and his crew did a fantastic job removing old poles (at least 10 poles, some 10-15+ foot in height and required extensive digging) and also removing dead trees along with hauling all of the debris away. I highly recommend Jay’s Lawn and Lanscape as they are professional, reliable and amazing at what they do!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The most important thing to put under a rock garden is the appropriate soil. The specific soil needed will depend on the type of plants you’re growing as well as the environment you live in. You can also put non-woven or woven fabric under the rocks to add to the garden's structural stability.

Common features in lakefront landscaping projects include native and water-tolerant plants, stone paths, docks or piers, seating areas, and erosion control solutions to create a harmonious integration with the waterfront setting.

Lakefront landscaping offers benefits such as enhancing aesthetic appeal, increasing property value, supporting ecological balance, and providing recreational opportunities while preserving the shoreline's natural beauty.

The best landscaping for a septic drain field is shallow-rooted grass or native vegetation that helps prevent soil erosion while allowing water to evaporate efficiently. Avoid planting trees, shrubs, or deep-rooted plants near the drain field because the roots can infiltrate pipes and cause blockages. Using mulch or gravel sparingly can also help retain moisture and protect the system without restricting airflow.

Most experts recommend a quarter-inch layer of compost for best results, and you will need about .77 cubic yards of material per 1,000 square feet. To measure how much compost to use, take the square footage of your yard and multiply it by .77, then divide that number by 1,000.
