"These guys were great! I hired them to install a laminate floor & baseboards in my lower level & they completed it quickly & professionally! I then used them to install a vanity/sink & toilet. Although the my bathroom was not plumbed for this, they were knowledgeable enough to get it done! I will continue to use them for all my handyman needs. Just a couple of nice guys with great talent!"

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired LP Customs to build a deck in our back yard. We had a productive meeting where we talked about the deck we envisioned in detail. They sent us a proposal including a picture which showed all the details, so I trusted that the contract covered what we had discussed. We received two bids on the project and both of them were for almost exactly the same amount of money. We chose LP Customs and the result was very satisfactory. The work was done in about a week adn They came back after a couple weeks to stain it. My deck is sturdy and even better looking than I expected it to be."

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"This was the third major project that we hired Adam and Pat for (2 bathrooms and basement remodel), if that’s any indication of how we feel about Adam’s Handyman & Remodeling Services and the high level of craftsmanship and value they bring to the table. They’ve transformed our home in so many positive ways and increased its value greatly. The most recent being a basement remodel and turning an unfinished area of our home into a beautiful office and music studio. The guys are extremely knowledgeable and also very accommodating to the ideas we had, including layouts, a custom wall design and barn door using stained slat wall, custom shelving, lighting requirements, etc. we couldn’t be more thrilled with how the project turned out, and the guys delivered on all fronts, creating a beautiful space within a budget we had set aside even at a time when building materials were at a premium. We highly recommend Adam’s Handyman & Remodeling for your next home project."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The foundation for a pole barn should be at least 36 inches thick to ensure that the piers won’t shift from frost heave.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

It is almost always more affordable to buy an existing home than to build a new one. Building a home involves numerous costs, including labor, permits, inspections, utility hookups, and brand-new materials, finishes, and appliances. Additionally, new construction loans can have higher interest rates than traditional mortgages, and property taxes on new homes are often higher, increasing long-term costs. An exception is a DIY house build, which can be cheaper than buying an existing home if you do the labor yourself. While building is generally more expensive, a new custom home offers complete control over the layout and design. Furthermore, new construction is typically worth more than a comparable pre-owned home and may provide a better return on investment if sold quickly.

Depending on your needs, you may find a storebought pole barn is a much less expensive option than a custom-built one. You can find pole barn kits from big box retailers starting at $11,000, but you will be limited when it comes to size and add-on features. As long as you have the necessary skills, you can save on labor costs by doing it yourself; but there are a lot of different skill sets you would need, and mistakes during the building process can lead to excessive repair bills later.
