"Working with Matthew was an absolute pleasure. He took our ideas about what we saw in our head and was able to implant them onto paper with his design. Matt listened to us on every single detail and aspect that we were looking for but also strategically placed certain things with his artistic and architectural skills and knowledge. It started out with getting a feel for the contours of the land and feeling out where the house " wanted to be" and not necessarily what was the most inexpensive place to put the house. We went through multiple basic drawings together to get a feel for what we wanted. Matt was not afraid to remind us how we would "FEEL" about a certain space if we removed or added something due to cost. His concept of emotive space is inspiring and ultimately led to our beautiful home. Quite specifically we wanted a REAL fireplace and chimney with full stone and mortar and rumford style fireplace. And we wanted it in the middle of the house. Matt described it as the heart of the home and we were able to construct the house around the stone mass. When you walk in the front door you get this feeling of warmth and comfort just gazing at the massive chimney. I think Matt's services are well worth the design fee's that are extremely reasonable and especially when you create the house from scratch. We went from a stout colonial to a warm 2 story cottage. Matt was also with us every step of the way for the bidding process and basically general contracting the project. I am not sure if he is still offering these services but we were able to do all of the legwork for bidding, permits, scheduling, basically of the general contracting needs ourselves. Matt simply provided his licensing and field reports for the Inspections. We were able to save A LOT of money this way and could afford to build our dream home. In short if you want to have a hand's on building experience with an Architect that wants to help you build emotive spaces and not just another house on the block reach out to Matt."

"I can’t say enough good things about My Handyman Wade. He’s prompt, professional, and truly trustworthy and these are qualities that are hard to find these days. He tackled everything from the simple (like hanging pictures and fixing small things around the house) to the more complex, like installing new flooring and did it all with precision and care. What stood out most was how dependable and detail-oriented he is. He shows up when he says he will, keeps things tidy, and makes sure every job is done right. It’s such a relief to find someone you can count on for any project, big or small. I’ll definitely be hiring him again and recommending him to everyone I know."

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.
Typically, it’s more affordable to buy an existing home than it is to build a new one. New construction loan interest rates tend to be higher than interest rates for traditional mortgages. Additionally, the cost of materials is likely higher when building a new home than it was when an existing home was built (unless it’s a very new one). You’re also paying for all new appliances, finishes, permits, inspections, and connections for water, gas, and electricity.
Knowing if you need an architect for your project can be tricky, especially if you've never worked with one before. In general, small remodeling projects like replacing fixtures typically don't require the expertise of an architect. However, larger projects, like moving walls or adding an addition to your home, should include an architect to ensure the project is structurally sound.
