Certified, Registered, and Licensed water well and pump service contractors in Northwest Illinois, Northeast Iowa, and Southwest Wisconsin. Trained and skilled in the craft of water well pumps for home, farm, and industry. 24 / 365 service and repair.

"Poor quality work and terrible customer service. They were unable to fix a leaking water line, and instead convinced us to replace entire system. Brady took vacation the day of the install, left behind two under qualified technicians who were on my property till 8:30 at night. Yard was completely destroyed, but they claim no fault because they have to subcontract excavator duties out of house. The plumbing and wiring that they were responsible for was poorly done. No conduit and lots of crooked pipes. We were receiving multiple phone calls a day when they were looking for their payment, but after they were paid, customer service was none existent. John made many promises that Brady never followed up on. Avoid company at all costs!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

The life span of a properly maintained sump pump is about a decade. The broader life span for sump pumps is five to 15 years. If your sump pump is tripping a breaker or showing other signs of malfunction, it may be time to consider a replacement regardless of your sump pump's age. You should have someone who installs sump pumps check for corrosion and worn spots to stay ahead of issues with your sump pump. Additionally, replacing the float switch every two years is part of routine sump pump maintenance.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.
