First there were a couple of delays due to COVID, the weather, and a truck broke down. The window guys were over 2 hours late. While excavating near the house, the workers “accidentally” broke our water main. This of course was our fault and cost us an additional $3000! Read your contract. There is a small clause about accidents not being their fault. Subsequently, we had no water for two days and a large plumbing bill from a plumber they sent. This may not be over.

I had them install an egress window mid-July. I was pretty happy with the window. Late August we had the major rains and the window held up great. Unfortunately, the dirt they back filled sunk 1.5 feet down around the entire perimeter 2-3 feet out. This was not a complaint for me, it happens with back fill. What was a problem was that I sent dozens of texts and phone calls to empty promises to bring me more dirt for almost 2 months. Then suddenly they tell me they won't bring the dirt since they considered this "landscaping" which was not included in the contract, without even coming to see the extent of the issue. This was a backfill problem, NOT landscaping. They FINALLY conceded to bring dirt, but complained they'd have to rent equipment to get to the backyard. At this point I just said put it in my driveway and I'd move it. So, this past Saturday, I (at almost 50 years old) spent 5 hours moving a huge pile of dirt instead of the people with young men and machinery that I paid $6,000 to do the work. On top of that, they dumped the dirt across the entire front of my garage instead of to the side (2 car driveway), trapping my car in the garage until I finished moving the dirt. So, either they were being massive jerks about it, or just incredibly stupid.

We met with the estimator/salesman Kevin who inspected the entire area, performed measurements and then reviewed the cost proposal in detail with us. He was very knowledgeable and thorough, explaining the process in layman's terms so we had a good understanding of what was needed and why. It was nice to get an idea of the cost right away instead of waiting days/weeks for an estimate. We secured estimates from other contractors and we decided on Tri-State due to the overall cost, professionalism and good reviews/references. Tri-State was able to schedule the job within a couple weeks. They provided us great preparation information so our basement would be ready for them to begin the work without delay. The crew worked over a two day period, keeping dust/mess to a minimum. All team members were professional and worked hard during the process. Clean up of the basement, staircase and outside area was excellent and additional instructions were given to us upon their departure. We have had several good rains since install and have had no water/wetness in the basement. Will edit the review accordingly to let members know how the system worked after a year or so.

Paid about $13,000 in 2011 for full basement waterproofing. Shortly thereafter basement was finished. In Spring 2017 basement flooded, even though sump pumps working frequently. Tri-State denied responsibility until I produced the original warranty which clearly stated so. Their crew nearly destroyed our finished basement, throwing concrete, rocks and dust everywhere. We paid several hundred dollars to repair the damage Tri-State's repair had caused.

Overall fine, we don't have a leaky basement anymore. They were a bit evasive when we contacted them a few days after the installation when we saw a leak at the end of the drain tile. Once the project manager took a look at the issue they fixed it promptly. They had to repair a portion of the drain tile because they did not install sufficient gravel around the end of the drain tile.

We haven't settled on who we're going with yet.  There was no cost for the estimate, it was a free quote. I would tell others that just for the quote they were professional, friendly, and gave us lots of information.

The foundation inspector, Fred, was extremely professional.  He explained our drainage issues and gave us possible solutions for all of them even though not all of them were provided by Tri-State (such as landscaping).  We selected their crack repair services and the repair was scheduled quickly.  The crack repair work was done on schedule for the quoted price.  The overall work was high quality, but the remaining cleanup was more than we had expected.  In all fairness to Tri-State the basement floor was wet concrete and drywall had been torn down, so the dust caked and had to be scraped up.  In the month since the repair we have had numerous severe thunderstorms which would have in the past left the basement flooded, but have experienced no problems.

They did an excellent job.  We used them before to repair a larger crack elsewhere and install I-beams to support a wall that was leaning.  They also did an excellent job installing an egress window into a basement room that we wanted to use for a bedroom.  They are very nice and easy to work with.  When we can afford it, we would like to install a door from our basement into our backyard.  We will have Tri-State do the job.

They left a HUGE mess in my basement and I ended up using more product to fix the remainder of the leak in my basement.  Also the tube they buried in my backyard is STILL visible above ground.

Response from Tri State Basement Repair
"[name removed] I am sorry to hear about your continuing water problems. Please know that you can call our office and ask any questions or discuss issues with your installed system during business hours at 877-493-8349. I see that we installed a 20 ft. partial perimeter system in September of 2011. If you are experiencing problems in the area that our draintile system has been installed, we will gladly send someone out to check the system for failures. However, if water is entering your basement in an area that we have not installed draintile, it could be that hydro-static pressure is causing more issues. Also, if you would like us to stop out and fix the underground discharge line we can coordinate a time to do so. As for the issue of clean-up, I am very sorry that our crew did not clean up to your satisfaction. Please know that if you had called our office to express your dissatisfaction we would have gladly sent out crew members to ensure the basement was cleaned up for you. It seems most of your dissatisfaction could have been avoided if direct communication with the office or Foreman would have occurred. Although a customer should be completely satisfied with the clean up before our crew leaves, we do need proper communication if there is dissatisfaction so we can be sure to remedy the situation as soon as possible. Our goal as a company is to provide superior products and service at affordable prices. Once again, I'm sorry to hear we did not leave you 100% satisfied, however even 3 years later, we would love the opportunity to help make things right. Our office staff will try to contact you on the number we have on file to discuss stopping out to fix the discharge line and be sure the system is in working order. Thank you, Tri State Basement Repair"
