That ideal paired with exceptional craftsmanship and a flair for design quickly cemented Benson Builders as the premier custom home builder in the Northern Wisconsin and Northwoods areas including Land O’ Lakes, Conover, Eagle River, Three Lakes, St. Germain, Minocqua, Lac Du Flambeau, Boulder Junction, Manitowish Waters, Presque Isle, Watersmeet, Iron River, Phelps, and Lake Tomahawk. By the 1980’s, Benson Builders was known throughout Northern Wisconsin for its quality, integrity, and service. A home designed, built, renovated or added on to by Benson Builders is noted for its style, grace, and quality. In the early 1990’s, the demand for full log and hybrid log homes grew and Benson Builders was credited with being the leader in this emerging market. Many of our homes have been featured in national magazines, including Log Home Living, Log Homes Illustrated, Distinctive Wood Homes, Log Home Design Ideas, Cabin Life and Traditional Home. WE PROVIDE OUR CUSTOMERS WITH UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY AND EXCEPTIONAL PERSONALIZED SERVICE Today Benson Builders continues to specialize in the custom design and construction of conventionally-framed, timber and handcrafted, full log Northwoods cottages, lodges and homes. Additionally, a large portion of our projects involves additions and renovations to many of the cottages and lake homes that were built in the area throughout the 1900’s. We provide our customers with uncompromising quality and exceptional personalized service during every phase of the building process – from our first contact until the last detail is complete.

"Following several meetings with Benson Builders early 2018, we entered into a remodeling contract to refurbish and update a 1991 Log Home. The estimated cost of the project was just over $255,000 plus additional design services of $9840 with an estimated completion date of mid-July, 2018. We assumed that there would be touch-up and punch list items to complete after July, but had no indication that as of April 2019 that many unresolved items would remain. During the project, we approved upgrades to HVAC, insulation and other items totaling approx. $22k. Combined with the original estimate this is a total of $305k. As of this review (April, 2019), we have paid Benson over $334k or $29k over the original estimate. In addition to this overage we completed and paid for ourselves over $5000 of work originally included in the scope of the estimate that was removed from Benson’s scope. In total, we have over $41k of additional costs to complete the scope of work, and the job remains incomplete as of April 2019. We provided communication to Benson about our concerns to their not meeting the completion date many times. On July 11, 2018 we received a communication from the owner of Benson Builders that all incomplete items on a list provided by the owner would be completed the week of July 30, 2018. In regard to the quality of workmanship and work that was not completed, I will let the pictures tell the story. Some of the incomplete work was completed by us at separate expense, the pictures represent how these items were left prior to our completing the work separate from Benson or remain incomplete today. NOTE: Upload of pictures is limited to 10, I have many, many more. Lastly, we experienced a significant failure causing damage to the home - I can provide details."
