"The need for a footing drain was a surprise to me during my basement remodel due to water leaking in through the blocks. Raman and his team got me on the schedule fairly quickly, did a great job. They also set up new plumbing for 2 bathrooms and a kitchen in the basement, and removed my old water heater and installed a tankless water heater. Any issues that came up, they were very quick to resolve (including an old copper pipe that they didn't install which welding came loose, and they were there same day to fix.) great honest service, reliable service. Pricing, well, plumbing is not cheap, but I think they are comparable to anyone in the business. I would definitely use them again. Thanks Drain Pro!"

"I was aware that we needed to replace our water heater and took advantage of the deal on Angie's List. Because of summer vacation schedules, I pushed off the installation for several weeks. While I was on vacation, they contacted me that they had some vacation schedule issues for the week of our planned appointment so when I returned home, I rescheduled the installation to yesterday with a two hour arrival appointment. The office confirmed our appointment the day before and the technician called before the arrival time to let me know he was running behind and gave me an estimate of when he would arrive, and again called to tell me the exact time he would be here (I appreciated that they kept me informed and he was only an hour later than originally planned). Interestingly, the appointment was fortunate since our water heater had pooped out the night before! The technician arrived, very professional, and we talked about what he was planning to do before he started, made recommendations for replacement of some of attached equipment and the reasoning why replace, and what the cost of those replacements would be before he started, and gave me an estimate of how long the installation would take. When he finished, he went through the completed equipment with me and left a clean worksite. Trace was an excellent representative for the company. I would use this company again if needed."

"Veteran-owned business. Honest, reputable and on time for the appointment. Ross and David spent all afternoon clearing out two clogged drain spouts and replaced/repaired a badly cracked PVC pipe after hydro jetting them. They inserted a snake with a camera and showed me the problem. They also provided a veteranâ  s discount! Thank You. Brad Pesek"

"I needed some additional work done to remove a kitchen disposal and put new pipes in and also to have pipes replaced on a back bathroom we had just remodeled. Mad Pipers did such a great job with the large re-piping job I hired them for over the summer, I didn't hesitate to call Zack & Ragen for the quote for the additional work. They replied promptly and we scheduled the work within a few days. The work was completed by Curtis who arrived on-time and did a great job! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing services!"

"We hired them to install a 40 foot french drain. Eric was very knowledgeable and professional, not to mention a very nice person and good listener. He was punctual and he and his crew were extemely hard workers. The job functions as promised, looks great and they were very conscientious about how they left the work area neat and clean. I wish I could hire them for other projects."

"Wu Construction did an excellent job for us. Greg estimated what work needed to be done and we scheduled it as quickly as possible. The crew was on-time, very efficient and did a really nice job keeping things as clean as possible, which is no easy task when repairs are done to a wet & muddy foundation area. A full interior perimeter drainage and sump pump system was installed to eliminate standing water in the crawl space. The crew also removed all old floor insulation and installed new R-30 insulation. The crawl space was completely cleaned up and a new vapor barrier was installed. Everything was completed as agreed upon - all at a very fair & reasonable price. The crew even installed a permanent access ladder to the area so it would be easier to get into the crawl space area. I'd highly recommend Wu Construction for any drainage or foundation work needed to your home or business. Greg, the Estimator/Scheduler and Thomas Wang, the Construction Manager were a pleasure to work with. They kept us up-to-date on everything and were true to their word. I look forward to working with them again, as needed."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish a clog from a frozen drainpipe since ice technically causes a clog. If the temperature doesn’t tip you off, there are a few additional signs that your pipe is frozen. Look for condensation and frost around the pipes. Ice in pipes can cause a banging or clanking noise as opposed to a clog from a softer material.

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.
