"We hired Roads Paving to replace our aging, 1200 square foot asphalt driveway. Their bid was lower than a competitor. The driveway is tightly compacted, smooth, and looks great. The work only took around 4 hours from start to finish, including removing the existing asphalt and sub-base. Norm, his crew, and office staff were extremely courteous and helpful throughout the entire process."

"Loved there fnshed work. Had fifteen yards of concrete patio and a block wall bulit. They not only did great job but they spent the time doing it right. Not one crack in the concrete. They took care of dranige issues I did not even think of. Had a buddy go with a diffrent compney at the same time and his 10 yard patio is all cracked up. "Excellent I used his service three times The owner is great. I own a townhouse and a year after I bought mine my sister bought the one next to me. I had my sprinkler system installed 3 years ago love it I than had him come back and put in a sprinkler system for my sister plus outside lights for security and a retaining wall. I can't say enough good things about his company. Fast efficient clean professional. Each project done quick less than 4 hours. Thank you my grass and plants thank you also. Retaining wall looks great and everyone comments on the lighting."

"Joe and the whole Pioneer crew were efficient, courteous, thorough, and very professional. They put in a new driveway and walkway in front of our home, much improving the home's curb appeal and value. The work was prompt and of high quality. When we had a problem with drainage afterward, they showed up the very next morning and took care of the issue. I highly recommend Pioneer."

Small jobs welcome

"Update to this: Letting this cure for few days to check grading with water, but 5 stars so far. Last update for this driveway repair. They came back when they said they would and tore out the faulty section and put in a drain. The rain no longer puddles into the garage and the drain appears to be functioning as it should. I was surprised that they would come back to tear out the mistake and replace it at no additional cost. Have to deduct one star for a few rough spots where they sprayed the exposed aggregate a little too early and had to pound rocks back into the edges which left a rough surface in those places and one strange line imprint that only shows up when things get wet. I will be extending this driveway soon and will probably get a quote from Mack and Sons if they are available to do the work."

"It went very well. Greg was a great guy. In the initial consultation we missed a wall that also needed a drain due to the crawl space, and his lovely crew came back and made it right. Greg was also always available to answer my many questions and made sure I was completely comfortable in the work. This is the first time I have had a dry basement as long as I have owned the house! I cant recommend highly enough."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. By comparison, you may need to reseal or redo a full asphalt driveway if just one portion sustains a significant crack.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.
