"Perms-Dry did an outstanding job. They explained the work to be done in detail, arrived on time, completed the work in one day. Their workers professional and did a great job of cleaning up once the work was complete. I have seen no signs of water issues since they installed the system"

"Turned out to be a bigger project so we needed a licensed plumber. Found Gray's Rooter on Angie's list and called around noon Friday for an appointment. They said they could be out to help us around 2:00PM. They arrived as promised. Confirmed where the leak was. The removal of the old faucet required a power saw as it was rusted in place. Hooked up the new faucet and made certain all worked with no other leaks. Cleaned up area after completing the work. Finished the job within the two hour window for the cost they quoted us and guaranteed their work for the life of the faucet."

"Ray is an excellent plumber and goes far and away to help you. He installed my sink/dishwasher and refrigerator water line. He worked hard, all day and even came back and checked it afterward to make sure all was in order. His estimate/bid system is easy and fast to use. Excellent Plumber. Highly, Highly recommend."

"Right before Thanksgiving we detected a leak from our upstairs toilet between our floors; and our dishwasher died. I contacted AWP through their web site; the response and scheduling were prompt. Vlad showed up on time, listened, understood the issue, explained what he was going to do then carefully fixed it. Later that day, the Home Depot crew came in to install our new dishwasher and could not complete the job. Vlad was back later that day - on a Friday - and took charge. As calm and unflappable as the first time he took care of doing everything just right. I would definitely hire AWP again. Very few professionals I have dealt with project and deliver such peace of mind."

"Came out to assess damage at appointed time. Gave an accurate estimate of materials required and completed the job within the estimated time. The level of difficulty came from the height of the job (second story) and in not so pleasant weather conditions. Repairs were done professionally and efficiently. The repaired area looks great. Can't tell that there was ever a problem. Even though they came out of Poulsbo and I live in Olympia, they were on time and pleasant to work with. I would gladly work with this company again and recommend their services.

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. However, if you have any concerns or want to make absolutely sure that the connections are installed correctly, you may be better off hiring a local garbage disposal installer to do the job.

If the cost of repairing a leaking garbage disposal is close to the cost of replacing the disposal, then fixing the unit might not make sense. When deciding if you should repair or replace your garbage disposal, consider the age of your garbage disposal, the cost of the repair, and whether your garbage disposal has had other problems recently to help you decide if the cost of repairing the leak is better than the cost of replacing the disposal.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.
