"I really must apologize to this customer number one for being late and the other for making them late for work. Being too busy should not be an excuse and I do not use it. In this case I made assumptions that the customer had plenty of time as I did not know they were late for work. The other problem was that I assumed they were in the planning stages and had not made any definitive choices regarding layout of the kitchen or other items. We discussed a number of "What if we did this" situations. The conversation including cabinets, flooring, window changes, exit door changes, hallway pantry additions etc. For the first visit it was a great deal to put into a proposal. I did not do any measurements because I prefer to work with the customer on layout and their wishes. I normally will do this after a visit or two. The customer did ask for a ball park estimate of all the work and as stated I estimated around 60K. When a customer asks for a ballpark cost I will always figure higher than lower as I am not a company that low balls bid, honesty is important. I know that they wanted the proposal to be around 20-25K and with all the work this would not work out. With this in mind I certainly apologize for their disappointment and wasting their time. I make every effort to be courteous and honest with every customer, apparently I failed. I will use this information to better the company and be more responsive to customers. I do not charge for estimate or proposals."
