"Smart electric did such an amazing job! Joe and his crew were friendly, helpful, fast and meticulous with their work. We hired them for a large project that included running Cat6 Ethernet all through the home, adding outlets, adding COAX cables, adding fans/lights to the bedrooms, adding can lights, installing a natural gas generator and automatic switch over, terminating all the cat6 and coax to a server area, install WiFi hotspots in the ceiling, surround sound speakers in the family room, recessed power and wiring for the TV in the Family Room above the fireplace including a smurf tube. And the list goes on and on. They will be my first any work in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"The electrician, Preston (& asst. Alfonzo) diagnosed a whole house fan timer wiring problem, and fixed it! The timer has been working perfectly ever since. They were prompt, efficient and very reasonably priced. In the future, I will hire them for electrical work."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Jack provided an estimate for the work that fit into my budget. Jack and his crew were friendly, informative, timely, and paid attention to detail. Jack adjusted his work schedule to my needs, and cleaned up at the end of each work day. I had most of my bathroom torn out and converted a 30" tub/shower unit into a 36" spa shower using the Kohler Tresham 60x36" unit with integral right hand seat, tile going up to the ceiling, shampoo cubby and rain glass shower doors. Also had tile flooring moving from the bathroom out into an L-shaped hallway, all smooth with no threshold. New 17" Kohler toilet, sinks, mirrors, hardware, lighting and heat/fan, Cambridge Quartz 8 ft vanity top, etc. I was impressed with the attention to detail and the communication. The bathroom and hallway look wonderful. And best of all, the cost did not exceed the estimate. We will be calling upon Jack for an estimate on a basement remodel shortly."

"Very fair rates and extremely professional work. They installed 18 can lights throughout the home, 4 ceiling fans and 2 pendants. They even called the fan manufacturer to troubleshoot why one wasn’t working to find out the receiver was faulty. They came back to complete the install of the fan when the new receiver came in for no additional service charge which I really appreciated as I wasn’t being nickled and dimed. They will be my go to guys for all electrical and lighting needs."

"Called Joe on Saturday from AZ because of flooding in basement. He immediately went to our place to assess the damage and remedied it by moving a lot of stored boxes, furniture, etc., drying area and spraying with mold retardant. Came back next day to reexamine and left fans for several days as well. Had planned to fly home to take care of problem but Joe did it all for us better than we could have ourselves. And, most of this was done over a weekend."

"Jose is a rare find. Seattle was all but shut down with 6" of snow but Jose showed up on time at our front doorstep, for our appointment scheduled two weeks prior. He enthusiastically worked through the list of items and no project was too big or too small. We had purchased a garbage disposal for installation but he fixed the old one and saved us $100. Due to the power being out, we also purchased an emergency portable generator. He immediately offered his expertise and got the generator running. Before he left we scheduled the next appointment and we will be repeat customers."

"They did an excellent job. Ron was here himself every day to make sure everything was going well. He answered all our questions and gave opinions that were helpful. He made sure everything was the way we wanted. It all turned out beautifully and we would definitely hire him again. We would highly recommend him as well."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

While ceiling fans are built for regular use, running them continuously without breaks can lead to overheating and wear over time. If your fan has a thermal shutoff feature, it may stop running to protect the motor. To extend their lifespan, it’s best to turn fans off when they’re not needed.

Wood stove fans are designed to operate quietly, emitting only a subtle hum from their motor. This low noise level ensures minimal disruption in your living space, allowing you to enjoy the warmth without distraction. The fan blades, which are engineered for efficient air circulation, contribute to the overall quiet operation. This makes wood stove fans a practical choice for maintaining a peaceful environment while effectively distributing heat throughout your room or home.

In short, no. You can use the square footage range chart in this article to determine the right size ceiling fan for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, weather elements can damage types of ceiling fans that aren't designed for outdoor use, so your ceiling fan should be weather-resistant if you plan to install it outside.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

You should generally avoid using WD-40 on a ceiling fan. While it might quiet a squeak temporarily, it is primarily an anti-corrosion and water displacement agent, not a true lubricant, and can damage the fan's components over time. Most modern ceiling fans have sealed bearings and do not require oiling, so a squeak may indicate another issue. For fans that do require lubrication, it is better to use a light machine oil, 30-weight motor oil, or a lubricant specifically designed for ceiling fans.
