Gas Furnace / Forced Air Heating System - Repair
My furnace stopped working last night. I asked Angi for help, got a call this morning and was told by this company that a tech would be out between 10-2pm. The company is within about 8 miles of my house. At 3:30 called and was told by a rep to call dispatch as they couldn't. I tried, the number wouldn't ring through. Called back and spoke to someone else, they tried to call dispatch no luck and said they could only send a message. It's now 4:15 pm. I called another rep and got the same story. Sorry doesn't cover incompetence.

A tech "Graham" came out for an annual maintenance visit on a reliable 15 year old York Furnace with a 20 year guarantee on the heat exchanger which Blue Flame installed in 2010. He could not explain why he was here, and when I told him "routine annual maintenance" he said, "Let's see what we can find". That was the first sign we had opposite agendas. It went south from there. After lots of loud grinding noises, he supposedly found a shiny jagged gash which he showed me on a scope. I am extremely suspicious he created it himself with a power tool. The end result was the furnace was no longer usable and cost me $8K to have them replace. To add insult to injury that guy ruined my screen door, which won't close anymore. I have ended my 15 year relationship with this company, since I no longer trust them.

The worst customer service! First of all, I pay my membership monthly so that I can have someone come out and do my maintenance for both heat and AC. For the past year, I have been getting cancelled due to short staffing. So finally someone came out and looked at my furnace and was told that our blower wheel was dirty and needs to be clean. I was also told that the reason why it was so dirty was because we were using such thin filter, I told the tech that we were actually using a thicker one before but we were told by the previous tech not to use a thicker filter since it will make the furnace work hard. The tech also told me to call Mountlake location ask for discount for all that trouble. I have spoke to someone named Leslie (very sweet lady) about the potential discount and she was supposed to return my call after talking to a manager but never heard back. So, I called again later the day and someone name Gloria answered the phone and so I told her that I was just following up with the discount I was asking about and she straight up said "So why would we give you discount?" in a very rude tone. She was very unprofessional and a big Liar. She told me that they had no managers today but I told her that I was told earlier that the managers were just in a meeting and she was like well let me call the manager for you right now and I will give you a call.

Absolutely the worst HVAC company! Our A/C went out and Blue Flame came out and advised us we needed a new compressor. We approved the repair and asked them to expedite the installation as we were in a real hot stretch of weather. I followed up with them almost daily for an update on the installation and final repairs. I got the complete run around and confusion from every employee. I was told each time I would get a follow up call that day. I never received any communication. Finally I got their operator out of Florida to get me to a real service tech. That tech named Skylar finally advised me over a month into this process that their company had made a huge error and the original service tech never did properly order the part so it was never processed. This was so frustrating after a month of very hot weather in Seattle. To cap it off Skylar promised their relationship manager would be reaching out to me the next day to apologize and make this right. Again zero communication. Please save yourself the frustration and hire a professional HVAC contractor NOT Blue Flame.

On Oct 2022, I purchased an HVAC from Blue Flame / Home Depot. Since last 6 months, I have a pending rebate payment of $750 from Home Depot as promised by Blue Flame Heating during installation. I was promised a total of $1500 rebate but have been paid just $750. The initial person handling my case was Zane Travelhood who has now left Blue Flame. The new person handling my case is Daryl Clark. Yesterday (May 5th 2024) Daryl mentioned that Home Depot has denied my pending rebate. The reason Home Depot mentioned is that I made the payment of the HVAC a few months late (in Apr 2023). However, this was nothing to do with me. This was because the Home Depot payment links were faulty and would not process the payment. Zane mentioned that Home Depot is aware of their system problem and trying to resolve it. The issue was resolved by Home Depot many months late in Apr 2023 after which my payment was successful. Note that I had made multiple payment attempts between Oct 2022 and Apr 2023. Daryl mentioned in the email that I should have gone to the Home Depot store to make the payment. But I was never told by either Home Depot nor Blue Flame that my going to the store would resolve the payment issue. I was also unaware that the store payment would still keep me eligible for the $1500 rebate. Also Zane knows the whole situation and knows the right people from Blue Flame and Home Depot who were aware of the glitch in the Home Depot payment system. In summary I am being penalized for no fault of my own. My contract with Blue Flame says I am eligible for a $1500 rebate and does not mention any clause related to the date of payment exempting the rebate. I am attaching all screenshots related to this matter with this post.

Stay away from BlueFlame. They used to be good but now they are worst than scammers! I had an HvAC system installed by them more than 3 years ago - so when heating failed this winter, I naturally called them. They installed, so they would know, right? Nope. They sent a technician to diagnose. He said the control board has gone bad and will have to order one. He said they have to charge 50% upfront - so I paid almost $900 an hour later, he messages me it is going to take 2-3 weeks. Wow! Ok. I agree. Over the next 3 weeks, I repeatedly call Blue Flame and text their technician for an ETA, there is no response AT ALL. There operator will say they are escalating and someone will call me back - then nothing. So, 3 weeks later, I tell the operator that if I dont hear back, then I will take them to consumer court. Finally, I get a call back from a service manager, Emily, who tells me that she will follow up and give me a call next morning. Next day, I call her at noon (fortunately she had given me her number) since they of course didn’t call me back. She says, it is back ordered and will take another couple of weeks. When I pushed, she said, she will give me a discount of half my initial deposit for waiting another two weeks or will refund my moneyif I go with someone else. I called BelRed energy and they sent a technician the next day, identified that it was a sensor (not a control board) and fixed it same day in about 1/3rd the cost quoted by BlueFlame! I call back Emily and tell her this and she says that she will refund the ~900 immediately. It’s been three weeks since that conversation and I still haven’t received a penny back and they still will not refund me my money. Now, I am asking my credit card company to dispute it on my behalf. Stay away from them both for their service/diagnosis and customer service. They have hit the bottom!

I would give them a zero star review if possible. Absolutely worst customer service I have ever experienced and they essentially stole $600 from me. They set up a diagnostic of a furnace they installed back in 2018 and identified a part (pressure valve) had failed. After I had already paid for the part and replacement, it took 5 separate phone calls over a 2 weeks span to even get someone to call me back to set up an installation time. When they finally installed it, there was clearly other issues with the furnace (water damage) from poor venting on the original system. Rather than walking upstairs to tell me this BEFORE installing the part that wouldn't fix the issue, they installed it and then said I have other issues and the entire furnace needs to be replaced. So I'm out $600 and need a new furnace? DO NOT EVER do business with Blue Flame. Worst company ever.

They installed a furnace and air conditioning units. They hooked them up wrong. The condensation pump was wired wrong and flooded my basement. They were supposed to get someone out on Monday but never put me on the schedule. When I did get them to show up they did fix it and have my carpet replaced. A year after my units were installed I called them for maintenance of my furnace and air conditioning units. They gave me prices for both and scheduled me. The technician showed up and said they don’t service furnaces after the scheduler told me they did. They supposedly did maintenance on my air conditioner and furnace but refuse to provide me an invoice or quote for repair work. I have called the office 7 times, given my email address twice, asked for a manager twice and not received a single call or email back. I bet their response to this review will be for me to call them, 7 times isn’t enough.

I recently called Blue Flame Heating to come and check out my AC unit, they provided an estimate of $150. They came out to look at it, but sadly missed the initial diagnosis and tried selling me a blower fan that eas $2600 that wasn't needed. The whole time the problem was the capacitor in the furnace, a $10 part that made my AC unit to start working again, I was really disappointed with the service, especially for how much I paid and they weren't able to fix it or find the problem exactly, I also called them to get a copy of the diagnosis and I never received on.

Blue Flame criminally overcharged me $210 for furnace tune up while cost of service on their web site was $119… even they told me 2x over phone that they will charge me $69!!! Tune up charges were $140 more than they supposed to. Initially I suppose to have work on broken furnace but while waiting I repaired by myself and felt bad for canceling that work and offer in same appointment time furnace tune up instead. They accepted and told me that cost is $69. I complained via email but got email answer on Dec. 5 short-staffed and apologize for the delayed response and getting to issue as we are able to!” … “I am looking into this invoice and getting you any refund due ASAP”… “some answers by the end of the day”. Now is over 2 months no response for their criminal charge – that disgusting company will not get my money anymore. EVER.

Awful service - company cancelled multiple appointments without telling me, lied about setting up new ones, took my money without actually showing up (I was dumb and signed up for a service contract - never again), and then the office manager verbally berated me on the phone when I tried scheduling for the last time. Horrible experience.

Avoid at all cost. Very unprofessional, not responsive, non existent customer service, not worth the hassle. About a month and a half I started the process of getting AC for my Manufactured Home and Home Depot recommended them. I went through all the process got a guy to check the area and measure the house to make sure I had the correct size (Ton) for my house. He was great answered all. Got the quote, a little high but I accepted. The day of the install, one of the managers call me to let me know that the process was going to take 2 days to complete ( I know for a fact that it didn't take 2 full days) because they had to move the Water Heater. I drained the water heater and switched it off so it would be cool by the time they came. I say fine, the guys came, remove the old unit, installed the new Air Handler and called it good after 2.5 hours of work. 2 weeks later I still don't have the AC installed, 12k paid, scheduling says they can't schedule me in for another week. By the time they come I wont have a need for an AC. my advise, STAY AWAY! Poor Customer Service, unresponsive

John provided great service and got the job done! For sure, I would hire again. However, I rated a B because the total cost was not 1) what I was quoted and 2) was given to me after the service was done. This would not have changed the outcome (I would have said yes do it) but customers should be informed of what the cost will be before anything is fixed.

I had a technician come in to determine why my dining room light did not come on. The tech opened up my light switches and determined that the fixture had failed. Kind of surprising but not entirely unreasonable. He pointed out that one of the light switches should be replaced as it was cracked. I also asked him to replace a light switch in a different room. On his way out he hit his head on the light fixture he was reviewing and broke it (glass chandelier). As the fixture was broken and needed to be replaced, I didn't care much about the accident. Later that evening I went to turn on the switch he replaced and it was not functioning properly. I pulled the switch to take a look if something came loose and noticed that he failed to attach the ground wire. I attached the ground wire and the switch still is not working correctly. The switch that he mentioned was cracked was not working either, upon opening up the switch I saw that it was fully broken and not a crack. I suspect he damaged it while troubleshooting the original issue as it was working perfectly fine prior to him opening up the switch. So with all of this, I'm now wondering if he even troubleshot the issue properly and just blamed it on the fixture. Hard to say. That being said, I would probably not use their service again.

Not smoothly. We selected Blue Flame because they were cheaper than Greenwood Heating & Air, and they could do the work immediately, while Greenwood had a waitlist several weeks long (should have been a clue). If I had to summarize the experience I would say communication was poor, requiring me to project manage the replacement more than I wanted to. Half the time you tried to call the office, they wouldn't pick up and you were passed onto an answering service who would ask you a list of generic questions like "Where did you hear about Blue Flame" and "Are you interested in purchasing a system?"... I've already purchased a system that I'm trying to finish having installed!!! The actual instillation took longer than they predicted, and while I appreciated the workers staying late into the night to work on the project, they didn't come prepared with all the equipment to do the work. They needed to borrow my extension cord because they didn't have one, and ended up plugging into the outlet in our backyard without asking, leaving our yard gate wide open. Fortunately our dog didn't escape before the open gate was noticed several hours later. They also helped themselves to items from our garage without asking, like our broom to sweep up their trash and debris. Lastly, and possibly most serious, the workers who were installing the system in our house were constantly pulling down their Covid masks when they thought we weren't around, and would scramble to pull them back up when they saw us. Bottom line, I probably got a good price on the unit and work, but it's not a very polished or professional company, so fingers crossed that everything was installed properly and will work for years to come.

The installation did not go well at all. The installers were here all day and they tracked mud through our garage. They also did a sloppy job of installing the lines on the wall in the laundry room. The system didn't work so they called a technician to come check. The tech, Tobias, complained that we woke him up. He was very grumpy and we could hear him having angry conversations on his cell phone. He determined that the installers installed the air system upside down! The system worked backwards - heat came out through the intake vents and drew air from the heat vents! He complained to us that this had happened before. The installers returned a day or two later and were here all day fixing their mistakes. They joked with us that we should get an awesome service contract. Then the system required fine tuning and another tech (Chris, a very nice guy) was here multiple times tinkering with the system. When we called our sales rep, we were told he doesn't work there anymore. We requested to talk with the business owner, and were promised a phone call, which never came. On top of all that, the heat pump is SO LOUD and I wish our rep had explained to us how noisy it would be. At the end of the day, I sometimes wish I would have spent the additional few thousand dollars and hired Greenwood Heating and Air. Blue Flame had the best quote and the friendliest sales rep. But the installation was a sh!tshow and I cringe every time that heat pump turns on which I can hear from inside my house.
