"Keith is very kind, proficient, and knowledgeable! He and his crew did an amazing job on our fence/gates and even fixed a part of an old fence that blew down in the neighbors yard! I would highly recommend his services and look forward to working with S&S Fencing again. Thank you!"

Small jobs welcome

"KI Constructions did a great job. They built 2 small decks for my home and replace support beam and columns on my older deck which had become dangerous to use. They did a fantastic job on the new installs and repair. I also used them to fence in a area for my dogs. I would defiantly recommend and will use for other project when needed."

"I was extremely pleased with the two men who worked on my fence project. Arrived on time, very pleasant, didn't waste any time and did a great job. Were very conscientious not to damage any flowers and shrubs that were next to the fence. Cleaned up all the debris that was left and hsuled it away. Only evidence that they were here is a nicely repaired fence."

"I am extremely satisfied with the patio J&R installed. Rafeal and Joel were easy to work with and the entire crew was courteous, hard working and dedicated to quality. They even worked until 6p on a Friday, making sure the job was completed on-time and at the agreed upon price. What more could you ask for in a contractor? I recommend them whole heartedly."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Spokane, most new fencing projects or replacements require a permit, especially if the fence exceeds 42 inches in the front yard or 6 feet in side or rear yards. Special rules apply for pool enclosures and fences on corner lots. For accurate requirements, consult the Spokane Municipal Code or contact the Spokane City Building Services Department before starting your fencing project.

Helpful?

Spokane's cold winters, wet springs, and hot, dry summers can affect fence longevity. Moisture and freeze-thaw cycles may cause wood to warp or posts to shift if not installed below the frost line. Choosing weather-resistant materials and ensuring proper drainage are essential. The Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency also recommends using treated materials to help fences withstand local environmental stresses.

Helpful?

In Spokane, cedar and pressure-treated wood are popular for their resistance to local moisture and pests, while vinyl fencing is valued for low maintenance and durability through seasonal changes. Chain-link is often chosen for security and affordability. When sourcing materials, look for products rated for freeze-thaw cycles and consult local suppliers familiar with Spokane's climate to ensure your fence withstands regional conditions.

Helpful?

Regular maintenance is key for Spokane fences. Inspect for rot, loose hardware, or shifting posts at least twice a year, especially after winter. Clean wood or vinyl surfaces with mild soap and water, and reapply sealant or stain to wood fences every two to three years. The Spokane City Building Services Department recommends addressing minor issues promptly to prevent larger repairs and maintain compliance with local fence codes.

Helpful?

In Spokane, most fencing projects are scheduled for late spring through early fall. These months offer moderate temperatures and workable soil, making installation easier and reducing weather-related delays. Contractors and homeowners often avoid winter due to frozen ground and potential snow. Planning your fence installation during these optimal seasons helps ensure compliance with Spokane fence regulations and a smoother project.
