"Dave and Derek did an awesome job excavating our new home! Really great experience and good prices. Very hardworking team of guys. They were respectful, attentive, efficient, communicative and definitely knew what they were doing. Squeezed me into their busy schedule which I really appreciated. Everything looks perfect! The owner Dave is awesome. I would highly recommend them to anyone with excavation or site prep needs."

"I have worked with trackwest fencing on several occasions. They've always sent trustworthy people who can communicate well and produce a really good product. I've done a lot of fencing work in the past but they've always come up with new techniques that I learned from. I plan on working with this company on many occasions in the future."

"I will hire this company again and again! They are honest, professional, polite, efficient, knowledgeable and their bid was thousands lower than other local companies. The work was completed in less than 1 day where other companies told me it would take several days to a week. James did a great job!"

"I was very satisfied with the work they did for us. We were selling a farm house property and at the last minute the buyer's mortgage company required that a large dilapidated barn be removed before the sale could close. Because of our short timeline and the location's rural location, we had a hard time finding an contractor. TILT offered a bid at a reasonable price and did the job exceedingly well. There was a hiccup due to contradictory instructions given by some family members, but we cleared it up and TILT responded well. Overall, they were very responsive to phone calls and requests. We then hired them to do a second job of cleaning junk out of a two-car garage at another property."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

In Spokane, WA, cosmetic excavating is shallow work for landscaping and requires minimal permits. Functional excavating for foundations or utilities is much deeper and must meet local building codes, including structural engineering for Spokane's seismic zone. These projects often require specialized equipment for rocky basalt layers and must properly address the area's clay soil drainage issues, which is a key difference from cosmetic work.

Helpful?

After completing excavating projects in Spokane, WA, install temporary erosion control measures to manage spring rains and use proper backfill procedures. For site restoration, amend the clay soil with compost and reseed with drought-resistant native grasses. It's also important to monitor the area for any settling, especially during Spokane's freeze-thaw cycles, and inspect drainage systems before the annual spring snowmelt season.

Helpful?

Before requesting excavating services in Washington, document your property survey showing boundaries and easements, and take photos of the current site conditions. Note the locations of any private utilities like septic systems or wells. It is also critical to be aware of any local Spokane tree preservation ordinances or specific requirements if your home is located within a designated historical district to ensure full compliance.

Helpful?

Over time in Spokane, WA, your foundation and basement are most likely to need excavating work due to settling caused by freeze-thaw cycles. Drainage systems, like French drains, are also common projects to manage water retention in clay soil. Additionally, many older homes in Spokane require excavation for replacing aging clay sewer pipes or repairing old galvanized water lines to ensure proper function.

Helpful?

Before starting excavating projects in Spokane, WA, call 811 at least two business days prior to locate underground utilities like Avista lines. You should also contact the City of Spokane Building Department for permits, especially for digs over four feet deep. Assess your site's soil conditions, which can range from clay to rocky basalt, and plan your project between May and October to avoid frozen ground.
