"Revive Painting painted our entire home exterior, siding, trim, gutters, columns, and chimney. They used a solid color stain on quite an extensive deck and deck framing. And, a clear stain on the underside (exposed raw 2x6 T&G Car Decking) of two gazebos/pergolas and a deck roof cover. They also moved heavy items off the deck and are willing to return and put the items back on the deck once the stain has cured. They also painted our shed including a metal roof the surrounding rusted galvanized dog enclosure and the faded vinyl fencing on our Sport Court. I found David Beer and his entire crew to be professional, talented, capable, and efficient. All had a tremendous work ethic. They were very friendly and a pleasure to work with! They required no up-front partial payment, collecting only after the job was completed. I would definitely use them again for all our painting needs. And recommend them to anyone desirous of a quality finished product using the best materials and the right materials for the task. And, a number of people out for a walk, passing by on our sidewalk have stated how great the house looks! Thank you David Beer and Crew of Revive Painting!"

"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"It went great!! Harry Wheeler is amazing! I needed this done as soon as possible when I contacted him and he made it happen. I needed these repairs done to sell my home and he came through for me. The price was more than I had anticipated, but the service he provided was well worth the price."

"I recently had Evergreen Gutters install new gutters on my home, and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. From start to finish, their service was exceptional. The initial consultation was thorough and informative, where they patiently answered all my questions and provided expert recommendations tailored to my needs. The installation process itself was smooth and efficient. The crew arrived promptly, worked diligently, and completed the job in record time without compromising on quality. They were courteous, professional, and left the site impeccably clean once they were done. The gutters themselves are of outstanding quality, clearly demonstrating Evergreen's commitment to using top-notch materials. Even after several heavy rainfalls, they have performed flawlessly, effectively channeling water away from my home and preventing any potential water damage. Overall, I highly recommend Evergreen Gutters to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality gutter installation. Their expertise, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. I will not hesitate to use their services again in the future."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.
