The cleaners arrived on time and set to work. I arrived back home about 1.5 hours after they had begun. I could see that progress had been made, although only one man was working; the other was checking his phone while up on my roof. Shortly thereafter, they took an extended break, and then I believe they worked until the roof was done before breaking for lunch. There was a LOT of debris - the roof had not been cleaned in a few years, and never power-washed - and it extended out in all directions by over 10 feet. The second worker used a blower and broom to clean up after the roof was done. I could hear when they started power-washing the house, and it sounded very methodical. I was unconcerned until I heard water dripping in my living room and went to check it out. The front window sill was covered with water, which was still coming in, the curtains were wet, and there were puddles forming on the floor. I went to the door to let them know that water was coming in, and was met with a shrug. I shut the door, ran for towels, and the man went back to what he was doing. No more windows on that side of the house. With the towels in place, I realized I had better check the other windows, and sure enough, there was water on every sill upstairs and down, and if the curtains were down (as opposed to being pulled to the sides) they were damp at the sill level as if they had been sprayed. Thankfully, it wasn't as much water as in the living room, and I was grateful that the curtains were in place in my office, as my computer sits directly in front of the window. The power-washer guy managed to work water through my sliding glass door, the back door of the garage, under the front door and laundry room door, and even under the garage door. A little water I suppose may be expected, but I had had it by then, and it felt like he had simply been very careless. Maybe he was just being thorough. He blamed the water in the living room on two small cracks in the siding that are about 12 inches long, but it was much more water than that, and it doesn't explain how water came in through all the other windows too. In discussing this with the manager, who also blamed my windows before offering an apology or even commiserating and actually questioned whether they were really closed, I did admit that some of the windows were installed without the flanges and so maybe that contributed to the issue. But that doesn't explain the rest of the windows and doors, especially the sliding glass door. When the man was here for the estimate, he told me that I did not need to be home while the work was being done, but I am so glad I was, otherwise there would be a damage claim to be negotiated. To their credit, the workers did a very good job of cleaning up afterwards, and the house looks nice. The patio and driveway are spic-and-span. My organic vegetable garden now has some grit in it from the roof, and if I had known that debris would fall that far, I would have covered the beds. That could also be on the check list for the scheduler: cover anything you can't move within 15 feet of the house. I have mixed feelings writing this report, and I would be cautious in recommending this company without a big explanation. Overall, the finished work is very, very good. With more training, I am sure these cleaners could avoid driving water through windows and doors, and avoid responding to someone's urgent information with indifference. I felt that the service was somewhat over-priced to begin with, although they did knock off a couple hundred dollars from the estimate without blinking. I did check a few other companies on Angie's List for pricing and they were pretty much at the going rate. The work was done thoroughly, although I could have done without all the water inside, but there is no lasting damage that I can see (fingers crossed). The estimate was timely, but scheduling the work was not. Over all, as I said, the work quality was very good, with the exception of the now-redundant water issues. The responsiveness and professionalism was C- for the guy who shrugged (an A for the roof and an A for the overall appearance of the house, but a big F for the shrug), and B for the manager who called me back pretty darned quickly, but who also wasn't quick enough to apologize for what happened. To her credit, Rebecca - who answered the phone this afternoon when I called - immediately apologized, empathized and offered claims adjusting. Her reaction was very much appreciated, even though a claim will not be necessary. I hope. Rebecca receives an A overall. The roof had disintegrated on my homestead era 30-foot water tower, causing rot to the floor of the tank compartment and tank at top. Howard carefully and respectfully removed the old materials, salvaging where possible and stacking it because I chose to dispose of it myself. He had to rebuild the floor before working on the roof itself - a dangerous and tricky situation but he handled it with skill.
Howard and his helper are polite and respectful workers, toughing it out in 100 degree temps and getting the job done. He can add historic preservation and restoration to his resume as his restoration of this historic building will help to preserve it for another 100 years
I can wholeheartedly recommend LMJ roofing.

When we were interviewing moving companies and getting estimates, Dave gave us good info not only about our specific move but also about the industry in general, and a number of these tips helped us better compare the various companies and their services. Although my husband and I had both moved many times, we are convinced that nobody does it often enough to be as aware of industry practices and potential problem areas as someone on the inside, and so this was invaluable help. Our moving process was a complicated one involving two stages over a period of months, having the pickup done without our being on site, and the movers having to deal with boxes and bins we'd packed ourselves. At every stage, we were able to easily communicate with the Roadrunner people to get answers to questions and make arrangements. They were very responsive, good-humored, and flexible, and they seemed to do their best to accommodate our schedule and circumstances. We did have a bit of breakage, not a lot (though not of anything we'd packed ourselves), but of loose pieces such as a standing mirror, a flagpole, and a couple of other items that probably didn't have enough padding or securing and so shifted during the long drive. There was a $420 charge for materials that we didn't think to ask about immediately, no doubt for the three quilted moving blankets, a number of heavy wardrobe boxes, and perhaps the packing the movers did before loading, and we felt this was probably reasonable charge. We had to wait a week longer than we'd hoped for delivery due to conflicts with their schedule, but this was manageable for us. And the unloaders didn't stack our many boxes, bins, and loose goods on the pallets we asked them to use, instead putting them directly on the concrete shop floor, but since I wasn't standing by supervising, we think that that miscommunication should be chalked up to the fact that, inevitably, a few such things do happen during every move, regardless of the care and experience of everyone involved. By and large ours went very well. We feel confident of Roadrunner's competence and integrity, and in a business like this one, that is critical. They are a small company that has competed successfully in a business where hidden charges and other unethical practices are rampant, and have shown that treating people fairly and doing honest work can still be a successful business strategy. As a result, we feel comfortable recommending them highly and wouldn't hesitate to work with them should we move again. FAQs for floor sanding projects in Lyle, WA
The cost to refinish hardwood floors is $1,900 on average, ranging from $600 to $4,500, depending on the area size, the floor’s condition, the type of wood, the type of coating, and the refinishing method. Traditional refinishing includes sanding the floors, which can be very dusty and costs about $3 to $8 per square foot. Dustless refinishing uses a vacuum to collect dust during the sanding process, reducing the amount of dust produced, and costs about $5 to $8 per square foot.
You should aim to hire a professional floor cleaner once or twice per year to remove any set-in stains, resolve scratches, and make your floors look shiny and new again. If you have a bustling household with many children, pets, or severe allergies, having your floors cleaned four times per year is worth the investment to maintain the integrity of your flooring. Don’t forget to prioritize cleaning your floors yourself in between professional cleanings, too.
The cost to install hardwood flooring is about $4,800 on average, ranging from about $1,000 to $12,000. Nationally, the average cost to install hardwood floors ranges from $6 to $12 per square foot for labor and materials. High-end woods and large spaces may cost $13 to $25 per square foot.
Additional cost factors include:

Location
Floor style and pattern
Plank thickness
Wood grade, color, and grain
It’s time to refinish your hardwood floors when they show signs of age that diminish their overall appearance and function. A few surefire signals that you should consider refinishing your hardwood floors include:
Gouges, scrapes, deep scratches, and dents over a significant area
Discoloration from stains or sun exposure
Water damage causing rotting, warping, or bowing
Weak, spongy, or soft spots in the floor indicating damaged subflooring
Dull and worn appearance across most of the floor
The cost for professional floor cleaning is $250 on average. This cost can range from $100 to $1,500, depending on the type of flooring and its square footage.
For example, natural stone flooring requires specialized techniques and care, so you'll spend closer to the higher end of the cost range. The cost of cleaning tile and grout is more cost-effective, where you'll pay an average of $0.50 to $3.50per square foot.
