"Carlos with JS Landscape and Excavation was prompt and responsive the whole way through, from the initial meeting to providing the estimate to scheduling and completing the work - it all happened within a matter of days. On the day of the project, Carlos and his team showed up on time and got to work right away. They worked quickly while still maintaining a high quality of work. They finished quicker than I expected and the overall cost was right in line with the estimate. I would definitely hire JS Landscape and Excavation again in the future."

Dillon established In-Depth Excavation in 2018 following years of experience. What started as a side job for family and friends turned into an ambitious passion and career. Dillon served on the 24-hour on-call duty rotation team for five years. At his First-panel interview he was offered an entry-level position with Alderwood Water and Wastewater District (AWWD). Dillon advanced through the ranks, exceeded qualifications, and was the youngest to be promoted to Utility Worker Lead in company history.\nIn December 2017, Dillon was presented with the Arden Blackledge “Excellence in Leadership” award which is the highest annual honor given at AWWD.\n\nHe was employed by various contractors working on storm, water, sewer mains, demo, plus grading and restoring for two years. Dillon proudly serves Western Washington and is on course for growth to establish In-Depth Excavation as a competitor in diverse markets.

"Randy, from Universal Landscape, arrived when he said he would and finished the job a day earlier than planned. Work went like clockwork. Cleaned up nicely after each day and when job was completed. My wife and I were extremely impressed with their work and professionalism. Also, Randy was able to bring cost in below original estimate."

"The crew complete work in May 2025. Project complete included building a rock wall, repairing the fence and another rock wall, making a small patio with flagstone, building a raised bed, removing several shrubs and transplanting 2 shrubs and a small tree. The crew picked up the flagstone, and rocks and also compost to use in the garden. In addition, several indoor projects were building a mantel, doors for a small closet and cabinet and dry covers in the laundry room. Norbert was great to work with and Ali for his carpentry skill, as well as the crew. The all worked hard, were efficient and very professional."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.

When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25 per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

Dumpsters work best on hard, study, and level surfaces made of asphalt, stone, or concrete. If the surface is uneven or too soft, the dumpster could get stuck or tip over when filled. Keep in mind that you must obtain a dumpster permit to keep it on a city street in many areas.

Preparation involves site assessment, clearing debris, grading surfaces, and compacting soil to support stable construction.

To determine whether your homeowners' insurance will cover crawl space repair, consider the cause of the issue. Repair may be covered if the problems were caused by an event that the insurance covers, such as vandalism or a windstorm. However, companies won't cover the repair if the issues are caused by neglect or wear and tear.
