"I interviewed and checked out six roofing companies before hiring Buena Vista Roofing. I was impressed with their honesty and professionalism. They were friendly and polite, explained everything clearly and answered any questions that I had. The work was completed within the time frame agreed upon and was done well. Thank you Edgar and crew for a job well done!"

"These guys are amazing. We had multiple baseboards that needed replacement, some patches in the walls and a few other things around the house. They were able to come in and help spruce our house back up for a great cost! Highly recommend"

"Very professional. Shannon came at the end to see how it went and if there were any questions I had, and asked me to call if I found anything that needed more attention. The girls were finished but had not left yet. They came back up to the house and washed the outside of the windows as well, which was very nice. I was fine with them catching that during their next visit, but they gladly took care of it right away. They were detailed in their cleaning and I haven't found anything that was missed."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

Drywall tape is made of paper, while drywall mesh is made of fiberglass or metal. Drywall mesh patches are suitable for repairing small holes in drywall, while paper drywall tape holds a crease better for corners. You need joint compound to adhere drywall tape to the wall, while mesh patches may be self-adhesive.
