"I had an emergency and JR Insulation Drywall did an amazing job. I had just sold my house, and in the process of moving, the movers broke a pipe that had to be repaired behind a wall on the day we gave possession to the new owners. I called JR Insulation Drywall and they were there the same day I called and did a wonderful job of the repair. Responsive, quality, and for a great price. Would definitely hire again if I needed help. I so appreciated their help in a stressful time for me."

"I needed windows replaced in an old home with water damage and leaking around the frame. It was not a simple window replacement. Tony was flexible and did excellent work. He replaced 2 windows, reframed the windows, and did some drywall on the inside. He gave me practical advice and suggestions for what would give the best result for the project. The work was done skillfully and I love the result!"

Small jobs welcome

"Maria and Eric (the owners) were very responsive to our request for this work and arrived for a quote in a short time.  The work was completed within one day and looks perfect.  We have hired Freedom Drywall three separate times over the past two years to do similar work and would highly recommend this company.

"Lee installed drywall in an external shed and did an excptional job. He is professional, easy to wok with, and completed the work when he promised. His drywall work is the best I have personally seen and is better than in my house. He obviously is skilled in his trade and does the best possible job. Drywall questions, answered by experts

All plaster walls will crack over time due to normal house settling and expansion and contraction from temperature and moisture changes. Small, thin hairline cracks are generally not serious and are mostly a cosmetic issue. However, larger or more significant cracks can indicate structural problems.

Here's how to tell the difference:

  • Cosmetic Cracks: Cracks that are 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) or thinner are typically cosmetic.

  • Structural Cracks: Cracks wider than 0.5 cm, excessive or deep cracks, multiple cracks in the same area, or cracks that span around corners can signify a structural or foundation issue. Cracks along the joints where walls meet the ceiling also warrant attention.

For cracks wider than 0.5 cm, structural repair is needed. If a crack is 2.5 cm (1 inch) or wider, or if you notice any signs of a structural problem, it is best to contact a plaster repair professional to assess the damage.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

Yes, taping inside corners is a critical step in the drywall installation process.  Properly taping inside corners is essential for achieving a professional look, and an installation that resists cracking and maintains its integrity over time. Taping the corners involves the application of a joint compound along the seam where two drywall pieces meet. This process provides reinforcement, conceals the seam, and prevents future gaps or cracks from developing.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.
