The office staff person, Teresa, communicated regularly with us and kept us informed of our scheduling options. "Francisco gave us a bid to dethatch and aerate our lawn which was reasonably priced. We scheduled the service and they came on time and did a very nice job. We will definitely hire them again!!!"

"He was very professional, courteous, and generous with his time allotment.  He helped us better with our thinking and planning.  We have not yet hired anyone to do the work we called him about.  But, when we do, he will certainly get our serious consideration to perform the several thousand dollar project.

"It's unfortunate that I have to write this, especially since we started out so well with the first of a two phase project, but I have to write the good and the bad, which is why Angie's Lists exists. Jay Construction completed the second phase of a major project with some skepticism on my part about a top soil purchase they made on my landscapers behalf that ultimately ended with me purchasing a lot more top soil (almost $1K worth) so my landscapers could complete their portion of the project. I requested on numerous occasions for a copy of the receipt so I could see exactly how much soil they purchased and was delayed by excuse after excuse, which only made me wonder if they cheated me in some way. I mean, if you tell me you have nothing to hide, but yet it's been 3 weeks and I still have not received a copy of the receipt after multiple attempts what am I supposed to think. I can say that I think they are good at what they do and have a good work ethic, but after paying $50K to them on these two projects, money I didn't have readily available and had to pull from my 401(k) because of an emergency situation, I had hoped to be treated a lot better! I'm a single mom, I don't have extra money laying around..."

"In the month of June 2015 the renter of a house I owned damaged and trashed the property inside and out leaving trash in  the front and back yard piled 6 to 8 feet high.  Mike Mullen and his team helped with the eviction process, hauled the trash to the dump, itemized the repairs needed, arranged for and contracted to have them made including painting the house inside and out,
landscaping the yard and rebuilding the bathroom which was badly water damaged. As a result I was able to place the property
up for sale and received a  full price offer the first weekend on the market and is in escrow.
I found Mike Mullen to be very able and knowledgeable contractor who knows not only what needs to be done but how to get it done at a fair price..
Many thanks Mike, Ben Novell

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Yes, your fish should stay alive in a frozen pond if you winterize it properly. By ensuring your pond has enough oxygen, good water quality, and a hole to release harmful gases, your pond and fish have the best chance of staying alive and healthy. However, if you have tropical fish, they should be overwintered indoors.

Yes, it is possible to make a fountain without a pump, though it may seem less intuitive and will require a bit more effort to use. In lieu of an electric pump, there are a few options including hand-cranked pumps or sprinkler systems that can work to provide water for a fountain.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.

One reason you may want to fill in your pond is the cost of maintenance. Pond cleaning may cost about $1,000 for an annual cleanup, or monthly visits may cost $75 to $100 per visit. If you don’t want to spend that much per year on pond upkeep, you may consider filling in your pond.

Regular water testing, debris removal, and seasonal maintenance ensure healthy water quality.
