"DeHaven Masonry excels at Customer Service and "yes," you will get a timely call-back. Shaun, the owner, took 30 minutes on-site (first) to assess this fireplace remodel project. Other leading Vendors in the area didn't seem interested in taking on this smaller size/scale of project. I'm pretty sure DeHaven wins as a result. The price and quality of work capped off a very positive experience. I''ll be ready to recommend DeHaven Masonry if ever asked."

"Stetson was great! I did not give him much time when I inquired about the job. He gave me a fair quote and fit me in his schedule so I stayed on my schedule. I will definitely use Stetson again for my masonry needs. He is a class act!!"

"We met six different guys doing work for Rock Hard Concrete, and all six were great guys, dedicated and extremely hard workers. Whoever is doing their hiring should get a raise. Rock Hard Concrete showed up when they said they would and completed the job on schedule. In today's world of flaky contractors and crappy work, Rock Hard Concrete was a pleasant surprise. I won't use anyone else for future concrete projects. We couldn't be happier with our new driveway pad."

"They did a fantastic job on my property which consisted of leveling out about 2 acres and adding in a gravel driveway. Responded very well to feedback and alteration requests. Very personable and I left the transaction feeling like it was money very well spent."

"They did a wonderful job fixing up our foundation damage. And they have given us a 5-year warranty, which means if there's any leak in the next 5 years, they will come right back and fix it. I do not doubt that the work will hold up well though. The whole project went down smoothly, and we are very happy that they were able to fix our foundation."

Customers say: Quality work

"Matt did such a great job of tearing down and removing my dilapidated garage - he handled everything from getting the permit, arranging for asbestos testing, getting the electrical located and delivery of the dumpsters. He was careful to not damage any existing fences, and when he left, the area had been raked clean and there wasn’t a trace of the old building left behind. I would absolutely hire him again. Very professional, easy to work with, and kind."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Brick is the closest choice when seeking to capture the timeless look of stone with a more practical and budget-friendly option. When comparing stone versus brick siding, the price range of $200,000 to $400,000 for average brick home construction is dramatically lower compared to the cost of building a stone home. If you'd like to keep the stone aesthetic without the cost, stone veneer and manufactured stone are both less expensive than real stone.

Yes, brick can breathe through limewash. Limewash is a breathable coating made from natural lime and water, allowing moisture to pass through while providing a protective layer. Unlike synthetic paints or sealants, which can trap moisture within the brick and lead to issues like mold, limewash allows the brick to maintain its natural breathability. This characteristic makes limewash an ideal choice for historic structures where preserving the integrity of the brick is essential.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.

You can use a regular drill to make pilot holes for gutter brackets in the wooden fascia board around the top of your house, but it’s not the best tool for brick. Instead, you’ll need a heavy-duty power tool like a hammer drill with a carbide tip bit.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.
