"From our first meeting I knew I had no worries regarding my pavement experience. Andy was very professional and knowledgeable of his job and what I wanted. The crew was expected at 8:00 am and at that time they were hard at work. I was so impressed with the entire crew, they were all very friendly and hard workers. Our neighbors were so inspired they had their driveway paved also. I realize that my pavement job may have seemed like a minor job, Andy and his crew worked as if they were on a million dollar project. We are very pleased and if we ever have pavement needs or if any of our friends need asphalt we will definitely call or suggest Washington State Paving. The crew was very appreciative of hamburgers for lunch too!"

"I called three contractors for pricing and Josephs was lowest. After reading all the reviews and checking the BBB site I hired him. He was quick and professional and communicated everything that was happening. I am pleased with the finished driveway and would recommend him for other projects."

"Converting our dusty old garage into a functional home office was one of the best choices we?ve made, and EcoStar Remodeling made it possible. Foster had great ideas for how to insulate the space and add windows for natural light, which really transformed it from a dark storage area to a bright, inviting workspace. The crew worked efficiently and left everything clean when they wrapped up each day. The new office has made working from home so much better, quiet, comfortable, and adds value to our house. We highly recommend Foster and his team!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. By comparison, you may need to reseal or redo a full asphalt driveway if just one portion sustains a significant crack.

The average cost to repair an asphalt driveway is around $2,459 to $2,500. However, prices can range from $100 for minor DIY crack filling to over $4,000 for more extensive professional work. Costs are often calculated per foot, with minor repairs costing $1 to $3 per linear foot and heavier damage like potholes, sinking, or crumbling costing $2 to $5 per linear foot. Patching smaller potholes can cost around $2 to $3 per square foot. The final price depends on the severity and extent of the damage, driveway design, local contractor rates, and whether sealing is included. For major repairs, it is recommended to hire a professional, and you may get a better deal by bundling repair and sealing services together.

You should not attempt to install your own driveway. Whether working with asphalt or pavement, this is a complicated project that requires special equipment. Talk to some nearby asphalt or paving professionals and discuss your particular needs—it’s a good idea to get a few quotes and look at the company’s past work.

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.
