We had pumper truck supply to backyard.
Estimated quantity needed was very good. I had separate smaller area, about 6' x 8' that I included in project, to be used as a foundation for a putting green. Beyond that there was one full wheel-barrow of unused cement after cleaning out pipes run from pumper truck. fortunately I had a place from a different project where we poured that remainder.
I would hire this contractor again, but whether it be this one or another I will hope to remember to ask about the disposition of any remainder, especially if I don't have a place to dispose or use. On the bright side, having a little extra is a whole lot better than being a little short. Might not have yielded such a smooth putt.
When work commenced, they covered the lawn, work area, and house walls with plastic and kept their tools on it. They worked carefully and neatly. They cleaned up thoroughly every day before they left. The job site (my front yard) showed no effect from a week of workers tromping around (not including curing time). The work exceeded my expectations; I could not be happier with my choice to go with Shoreline Concrete. I would recommend them without reservation. I would mention that the best way to communicate with them is by email; they always answer the same day or first thing next morning.
"[member name removed], Thank you for the wonderful review. I will pass on to the crew your message. Thank you, Bruce Bartleson Shoreline Concrete"
"Thank you for the review. I use every review to try and improve my company. I am sorry that you didn't receive the customer service at the level that my company normally gives. I made a major mistake in the months of May and June. I was roped in to taking part in the "Big Deal" by Angie's List and I couldn't handle the amount of calls and inquires that came in. I learned that I would rather have less work then give poor customer service. I hope that you would give us another try. I can guarantee that the customer service then you received this time. They had already invoiced me, so I called to say there must have been some mistake and that work wasn't complete. Pictures I sent quickly confirmed this. They said they would get out to get the work done and apologized for leaving the door open (literally gaping open, not just unlocked). They confessed they weren't locking the door at night with the key I left them. This was of course concerning for a variety of reasons.
I spent a week going back and forth with the company - meeting them at the house 3 additional times - until they finally finished the project to acceptable standards.
I will add that they were also very difficult to get ahold of after I had accepted their bid. They were, however, responsive once I told them I was extremely dissatisfied with their work and would not be paying them until it was completed as described.
They assured me my experience was not reflective of their usual work and customer experience.
Shoreline Concrete was able to bid our job quickly. They listened carefully to our requests to ensure the sidewalk drained away from the house and had a rougher finish so that it wouldn't be slippery. The finished result is exactly what we were hoping for. The workers were professional and easy to talk to while the job was underway.
There were a few times we expected them to show up on a particular day and they didn't and they didn't communicate with us about the delay. It wasn't a big deal since their work was on the side of our house and didn't impact our daily lives. After the sidewalk was done, Shoreline Concrete protected it with plastic sheeting draped from boards nailed to our house. They said they would come a few days after the concrete was poured to remove the plastic and the frames. They didn't show up for almost a week. My husband finally called them and they said they "forgot" about removing the plastic and frames. Even after they removed them, there was a still a board nailed to our house. Again, not a big deal to remove the board, but I'm a little disappointed at the lack of attention to details.
I told them in the beginning that I wanted only the eight treads and risers redone. (two sections) They gave me two bids: one for the treads, risers and sidewalls. The other for the treads, risers, sidewalls and landing strip between the two sections. When I got through to them what I wanted, they gave me a bid for 4 treads and 4 risers. Luckily, I knew exactly what I wanted. They showed up a day late and told me after the fact. Other than that they did a very nice job. I would definitely hire them again. The price was also very reasonable. Again, the guy who did the job did a very nice job.
