"The install was supposed to be complete in 2 days. It took 7 and we were left without heat in October for 6 of them. The install was defective - pipes weren't attached and we were heating the crawl space for over a month before my husband identified the problem. We purchased on the premise that the system was eligible for a $4000.00 rebate thru PSE. When paperwork was sent to me to fill out, it qualified for $2400.00."

Blaschke Home Improvements is family owned and operated. We pride ourselves on quality and that you end up with the home of your dreams.

"David Blaschke is the most honest and reliable contractor that we have hired in the last 20 years that we’ve owned our home! We have no idea how he could possibly receive a negative review!!! We first hired Mr. Blaschke in 2018 as part of large-scale high dollar kitchen/family room/bath remodel and his professionalism, communication and quality of work was a standout among the trades that we encountered renovating our nearly 100 year old home. We have subsequently hired Blaschke Home Improvement to do several other projects around our home, including dry rot repair, waterproofing and fixing mistakes that other contractors made before we met Mr. Blaschke. When people come into our home and admire the quality craftsmanship, we do not hesitate to refer Blaschke Home Improvement. David and team have never let us down and we would not consider hiring anyone else."

Batt & Lear is a family-run business since 1999. We are problem solvers. Our process is to collaborate, innovate, and research. Additional email - [email protected].

"We recently had a pretty negative experience with Batt + Lear. We hired them to install a bathroom and some walls in our basement. Our contract indicated that the work would take 60 days. I understand that projects often take longer than originally projected but it ended up taking 5 months for them to complete this rather simple project. Every time we asked when the work would be completed, Batt + Lear told us that they were a couple weeks away from being done. That went on for months. Not only did the work take way too long, at many points along the way it was of poor quality. My husband spent countless hours documenting the bad work, emailing, and trying to communicate with the business owner about the quality of the work. The owner failed to address these concerns or justified the bad work by pointing to other parts of our 100+ year old house and saying that his crew's work wasn't as bad as the preexisting conditions in the house. When, after months of trying to get Batt + Lear to fix their work, we threw a fit. That finally got their attention and they fixed the work, but after all of the trouble we went through, they offered us no discount or any type of compensation. Batt + Lear isn't cheap but we hired them because we thought we wouldn't have to put in a lot of effort to make sure that they were doing timely, quality work. We did not get what we paid for."

FAQs for insulation service projects in Bothell, WA

When choosing a professional insulation installer, consider asking these questions to determine the best fit.

  • Will you address air leaks in my house?

  • Can you provide an R-value (heat resistance) fact sheet?

  • What kind of insulation will work best for my home?

  • How do you handle signs of a water leak?

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • Can you provide customer references?

The best type of insulation for your home depends on what you need, so the answer will depend on your specific situation. If you’re building a house, structural panels are easy to install during the building process in addition to being the most energy efficient type. If you live in a warm climate, reflective insulation may benefit you more as it costs less than other insulation types. And for standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation work well.

If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.

In some cases, you may not have enough insulation to properly regulate your home’s temperature. Watch for a few signs your home needs more insulation, such as:

  • High heating and cooling bills

  • Uncomfortable room temperatures

  • Ice dams on the edge of your roof

  • Roof leaks

  • Cold floors and walls

  • Freezing pipes

  • Temperature fluctuations

  • Visibly low insulation

  • Noise problems

  • Pest problems

On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, ranging from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on the insulation type, amount, and your attic’s accessibility. Additional cost factors include sealing air leaks, removal or replacement of insulation, and inspections. Types of insulation include:

  • Blown-in: $1–$4 per square foot

  • Spray foam: $2–$5 per square foot

  • Batt: $2–$4 per square foot

  • Structural insulated panels: $4–$7 per square foot

  • Loose-fill: $2–$5 per square foot

  • Reflective: $0.50–$1.50 per square foot
