"I went through like 3 other chimney groups including Chimney Sweep Masters and they all gave me conflicting information. Emerald City Chimney on the other hand was honest and thoroughly dismantled all the b******* the others tried to sell me. That’s what happens when you actual experienced workers take the lead instead of salespeople. It took a while to figure out exactly what the best approach would be, but in the end I got a job done for like $650 when the others wanted like $3000. I bought a custom fit chimney cap myself for like $200 I think and then had emerald city retrofit and install it for $450."

"I made a query via Angi on Sunday and Jonathan (owner) responded within minutes. Suffice to say Chimney Sweep Masters were very responsive. We confirmed an inspection appointment for Tuesday. Technicians (Samuel & Adi) arrived on time. They were professional and very personable. They inspected my (2) fireplaces and presented me with my options/estimate. I chose the most comprehensive option, and they proceeded with their work immediately. They were in and out in less than an hour-a-half total. Chimney Sweep Masters made the entire transaction absolutely painless. Their professionalism and communication are top notch. I highly recommend this company for your chimney cleaning needs."

"I highly recommend Gustavo and his team Chimney Sweeps! They were so efficient and did a brilliant job of cleaning our fireplaces. Gustavo carried out a safety inspection and spent time explaining the tools needed for a fire and he then set up our fireplace and started the perfect fire for us. Thanks again for your excellent work,"

"I recently hired Chimney Sweep Masters to replace our old, rusty fireplace, which was deemed unsafe by multiple inspectors due to its age and condition. Our fireplace issues began last winter when we discovered a leak from what we later identified as a Chase Cover. After deciding to replace the fireplace, we chose Chimney Sweep Masters for the job, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The entire process was seamless. The office staff and the installation team were excellent, guiding us through various options and allowing us ample time to make the best choice. The new stone façade and gorgeous mantle have transformed the fireplace, and we absolutely love the results. Overall, it was a five-star experience."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

In many cases, homeowners insurance covers smoke damage remediation, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage and the specifics of your policy. Typically, damage from a house fire, wildfire, or even a fire in a neighboring home is covered. However, damage from cigarette smoke is generally not covered.

Before filing a claim, review your policy to understand what is covered, such as restoration costs, replacement of damaged items, and temporary relocation. It's crucial to document all damage thoroughly, including to furniture and personal belongings. Contact your insurance provider promptly to start the claim process and get an evaluation before hiring professionals. Your insurer may also provide a list of approved smoke remediation companies to streamline the process.

Yes, most insurance plans cover acts of nature. In policy documents, this also may be called “Acts of God” or “natural disasters.” However, not all acts of nature are covered by your policy, and the extent to which they’re covered depends on your specific contract. Check your policy documents to understand your coverage limits and exclusions.

To get rid of the smoke smell in a microwave, scrape off any burnt food residue and throw it away. Next, warm a cup of water in a microwave-safe container for three minutes. Then, dip a microfiber cloth into a mixture of water and a couple of drops of dish soap and wipe down the inside of the microwave. Dry the inside of the microwave with a fresh cloth and let everything air out for three hours.

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.
