"Prompt and professional work. Chimney was inspected and the lower flue was vacummed. We're ready for winter and will call Emerald City Chimney when we next need service!"
"Nice a polite technicians, inspected my fireplace and chimney. Clean it and inform me of everything they found wrong with it. They follow up with an estimate for all the work that needs to be done. Overall I am happy with the service provided. I will use chimney and fireplace solutions in the future."
"I may have given a higher rating but since the work was on the roof I could not actually inspect their work. From street level viewing it looks good."
"Very professional. Called enroute with an ETA. Arrived on time. Placed drop cloth around woodstove. No mess. Cleaned and inspected woodstove and chimney pipe. Shawn was excellent and I will be scheduling another cleaning and inspection next fall with United Home Services."
"I hired this company for a chimney inspection, and I'm glad I did. Their team conducted a detailed examination, identifying potential issues and providing me with a comprehensive report. Their expertise gave me peace of mind."
"The team at Black Horse Masonry do excellent work. Every aspect of the job, from getting the quote, demolition and rebuilding of my chimney went without any issues (except Tacoma weather) Tara at the front office did a great job keeping me in the loop on the status of the job as we faced many rain delays. Would highly recommend."
"I needed a chimney inspection and possibly cleaning. They were very quick to respond and come out. They were here all of 10 minutes. They said we didn't need a cleaning, so only charged us for the inspection. He glanced fairly quickly up the chimney from the inside and said everything looked good. I pointed out a couple of cracks/holes in the wall and after looking at those he changed his mind that no, our chimney is not safe for fires. If I hadn't pointed that out, would he have given us a positive inspection report? Also, I never got any sort of report about what they inspected. I paid for a "16 point inspection", but I have no idea what the 16 points are. The invoice has my receipt and a single sentence stating the chimney is not safe for fires. Overall OK service and good value for the price. I'm simply not sure they can be fully trusted to do an inspection."
"Prompt Inspection and quote, very friendly. Did excellent job of cleaning and repairing terracotta roof, replaced broken tiles, fix concrete bedding and re pointed titles. Cleanup around the house and water blasted windows. Excellent job A+"
"Kevin Spenser did some extensive masonry repair on our chimney last fall and was absolutely wonderful to work with. His work is exceptional, and we couldn't be happier."
The three main types of home inspections you should always carry out for new construction include a pre-drywall inspection, a post-drywall inspection, and a one-year inspection. The pre-drywall inspection can identify building code violations, issues with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC components, and structural issues. The post-drywall inspection can identify damaged building materials, insufficient insulation, and more. An inspection at the one-year mark after construction will identify problems your builder must fix under their comprehensive one-year warranty.
Whether you should repair or replace your roof boils down to the scope of the damage. If you need to replace more than 20% or 30% of your roof, then it’s probably a good idea to just replace the entire roof, as leaving older sections up can leave parts of your roof open to more issues. By replacing your roof, you can have peace of mind that no pesky leaks are sneaking into your home.
While a severe hailstorm can cause serious damage, it does not automatically mean you need a full roof replacement. The necessity of a replacement often depends on the age and prior condition of your roof. Unless your roof was already aging or in poor shape, a full replacement is often not required, and it can be difficult to get insurance approval for one. The most reliable way to determine the extent of the damage and whether a replacement is needed is to contact a professional roofing company. An experienced contractor can perform a thorough inspection, identify any hidden damage, and advise you on the best course of action.
If you need to replace the roof over your attached garage, a roofing contractor can perform what is called a partial roof replacement that only affects garage roofing. However, it's important to keep in mind that only replacing a portion of your roof creates a situation where your roofing has two different lifespans. You will also miss out on the opportunity for a full roof warranty. In some cases, having two different roofs on your home could increase risks for leaks. When replacing the roof on a detached garage, homeowners have the option to make the project bigger by upgrading their home roof alongside their garage roof. However, this isn't necessary if your home has a newer, properly functioning roof. It is better to try to match the new garage roof to your home's existing roof instead.
It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.
