"The employees were professional and got the task done. We later learned that there was a mistake in installation of the new spigot. We promptly called the company who sent an employee out the next day and fixed it. We all make mistakes. So nice to work with a company that simply owned up to it, corrected it, and did not push back on us. Despite the mistake, we will choose them again for our plumbing needs."

"Rooter-Man came out to remove and install a new sump pump in my basement because my previous sump pump had failed. It was an emergency because there was a lot of rain and water was building up in my basement fast. They responded quickly, provided me an estimate, and completed the job successfully. A year later the sump pump is working flawlessly. What more can I ask for?"

"Great customer service. Shared knowledge of what was being done and why. They even alerted me to a serious incorrect installation mistake that could have been a serious problem and costly repair very soon down the road and I had them fix it right away. I would hire Platinum plumbing in a flash should I need any other services or repairs."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.

Start by calling a plumber if you want to install a sump pump battery backup. Talk to them about your situation and needs. Sometimes, electricians or waterproofing contractors will install a battery backup, and in that case, the plumber you call should be able to point you in the right direction.

There are several indicators that your washing machine’s drain pump is bad, including incomplete cycles, water not draining, lack of spinning, a foul odor when the machine is running, and a loud grinding or buzzing noise when the pump is trying to move water down the drain.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.
