"Quinton did all of our plumbing for our kitchenette install. He also did the gas work. Quinton did a great job communicating with us and his pricing was upfront and there were no surprises. The Suburban Gas crew who came out to turn on our fuel commented on what a good job he did as well."

"They weren't able address part of my project which included fixing a bulkhead wall, and masonry. I wanted to have it all addressed project by project and discovered that there was more damage to one of the walls that needed fixing. As they weren't concrete 'masons', they wouldn't be able to fully address that before installing a drainage system. It was all within my budget. I just didn't want to have the drainage system installed and have it fail because due to the mortar crumbling. The person that went to my house spent a considerable amount of time. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and not pushy. It wasn't until I had another contractor come through that I realized that what I had initially planned on was not going to work. When I went to cancel, the person that handled my estimate was concerned that I was cancelling and that I was being given "bad advice" from another contractor. I thanked him for the time he spent, and the information that he gave me, and sent my cancellation form. I would have hired them had they been able to fully address the entire project(s)."

"I’ve had consistently great service from the Heritage technicians who handle my plumbing and AC maintenance and problems! Noah, who serviced my water filter this afternoon, was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. He answered my questions and did some troubleshooting to address my concerns. I’m quite pleased to have Noah provide the same high quality performance that I’ve come to expect from Heritage. Thanks for this opportunity to offer comment!"

Plumbing FAQs, answered by experts

A closed permit with a passed inspection provides the clearest proof of correct plumbing work. Physically, you will see proper pipe insulation in all unheated spaces to combat the harsh VT climate. Look for correctly sloped drain lines, secure pipe hangers at required intervals, and clean copper solder joints without burn marks. Properly installed cleanouts and correct venting further confirm a thorough, code-compliant job.

Helpful?

Start by scheduling a full plumbing inspection to identify aging galvanized, lead, or cast iron pipes common in older Brattleboro homes. Assess and insulate any vulnerable pipes in unheated crawl spaces before winter arrives. Locate and test your main water shut-off valve to ensure fast action during emergencies. Finally, request a camera inspection of your sewer lateral and test your well water if applicable in your area.

Helpful?

Leaving your indoor temperature below 55 degrees during cold snaps causes severe frozen pipe damage in Brattleboro homes. Flushing wipes, paper towels, or grease creates stubborn blockages in aging sewer laterals. Pouring harsh chemical cleaners accelerates corrosion in older pipes. Additionally, leaving hoses attached to outdoor bibs through the winter prevents internal valves from draining, leading to burst pipes when the spring thaw arrives.

Helpful?

Watch for slow drains in late autumn, which indicate blockages that worsen when the ground freezes across VT. Frost on pipes in unheated spaces serves as a direct warning of an impending burst. Discolored water or fluctuating pressure signals severe internal pipe corrosion. You should also inspect for wet spots on basement walls, gurgling drains, and sudden spikes in your Brattleboro municipal water bill.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects provides immediate protection against frozen and burst pipes during harsh Brattleboro winters. Addressing leaks promptly prevents structural damage caused by the local freeze-thaw cycle. In the long term, replacing aging galvanized or cast iron pipes prevents catastrophic failures. Well-maintained plumbing also supports efficient home heating systems and adds documented value to your property in the active VT real estate market.
