"Mr Handyman's technicians always arrive on time and do their work expertly and efficiently. I had a number of things that needed work on and he did a great job on everything. I really like the fact that Mr Handyman will pick up needed supplies at the store for me. In addition to great technicians, Mr Handyman has a great office staff. An all around good experience."

"I hired Ultimate Craftsman to tear down an old deck and build a new larger screened in porch with sky lights in it's place. The designer Dave really listened to what I wanted and got on paper my exact vision. The owner Mark always answered his phone and was quick to address any concerns. He used quality materials and professional craftsman. His carpenter John and his roofer Rodney showed great pride in their work. The end result was exactly what I asked them to build and we have received many compliments from our neighbors."

"We’ve had this painter work on three of our homes and our rental property for the last 10 years, and his reliability is one of the biggest reasons we keep coming back. It is incredibly rare to find someone who consistently shows up on time, keeps his word, and delivers flawless work every single time — but he does. His attention to detail is outstanding, his preparation is thorough, and the finished product is always beautiful. He works efficiently without ever cutting corners, and he communicates clearly throughout the entire project. You always know what to expect, and he follows through exactly as promised. What sets him apart is that you never have to wonder if the job will be done right — you know it will. He’s the kind of professional who makes the entire process stress-free, and that level of dependability is priceless. We recommend him to everyone. If you want a painter who is not only highly skilled but also truly reliable and trustworthy, he is the absolute best choice."

"Kitchen Tune Up: My wife and I recently decided to update our kitchen. We had several estimators come and give us their offers for us to decide. I saw an add for Kitchen Tune Up and called them. The owner Mark, came to our home, sat, listened to what we wanted, took measurements and provided us with his professional suggestions. We were impressed with his presentation and the fact that he let us take our time with no pressure. We decided to give him the contract. In no time the project was under way, completed to our satisfaction and very reasonable. Teresa and Shawn showed up on time, prepare their work area, and went right at their task. They did a remarkable job, and cleaned up after completion. Mark went the extra mile with his detailing to ensure we were satisfied with the appearance of my wife's desires. Mark turned our outdated kitchen into a delight for my wife. She is so pleased that every time we have guest She has to show them her new kitchen and watch them in awe. Corresponding with his family telephonicly when necessary was a delightful experience, for someone was always available and leaving messages was not necessary. The owner Mark runs his business professional and cares for his customers satisfaction. I highly rate Mark a number one General Contractor and have more projects for him. Extra thanks to Theresa and Mark"

"Josh and his assistant did a wonderful job putting our kitchen back together after a water leak. Many repairs were needed and they did it all! They always showed up early each morning to get the job done. Josh is professional, friendly and most importantly does really great work. I felt at ease that the job would be done right. I was very pleased with the services provided and would recommend them to anyone needing small or big jobs done right."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

A contract should outline the scope of work, timelines, costs, payment schedule, and materials used for clarity and protection.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Many people, including professionals in the field, use baluster and spindle interchangeably to describe the vertical components of a railing (or technically, a balustrade). However, there are subtle or distinct differences, depending on who you ask. The most common interpretation is that spindles are thin or delicate versions of balusters.
