Small jobs welcome

"We had a sewer break under our concrete slab, under family room flooring. When flooring was removed, asbestos tile was discovered (house built in 1960). Henry, Jennifer and the crew at Boston Environmental provided me with an estimate quickly and once I accepted, they were at my house at 8 am the next morning. This was a small job for them, but a huge impediment to the process of getting my house disaster resolved. I would highly recommend them to anyone going through an unfortunate situation like me."

"Boston Consulting was always prompt, responsive, and professional throughout our entire interaction. We obtained 3 bids for the work we needed performed, and while they weren't the cheapest of the 3 prices we received, we felt that they offered a better value and a higher level of quality and professionalism than the others. We would definitely hire them again, no question."

"These guys were AWESOME. They arrived within 90 minutes, assessed, estimated, and had equipment already with them to handle our flooding. They moved the furniture, explained how it all worked, came back half way through (it was a 3 day process), moved the fans, and then put it all back when they were done at the end of the 3rd day. If every company worked like this - had staff as professional, friendly, and reassuring as these guys - there'd be no need for a better business bureau! Love them. Don't hesitate to use them!"

"You certainly get what you pay for! While CSI wasn't the cheapest on our list of home inspection and radon testing quotes, the cost was more than reasonable for the level of service that we received. Ron, our home inspector, was fantastic! He arrived early, and I don't think he could have been more thorough than he was! He was very friendly and personable, and was more than willing to answer our questions during the inspection. He went through the entire home with a fine toothed comb! He pointed out defects that he found, and explained things in detail. He also highlighted the positive things he found. Used a drone to inspect the roof and chimney, and thermal imaging to check for hidden moisture. I feel like we have an excellent idea of the condition of the property we are buying, which has done a lot in making us feel more comfortable! The report we receiced within 24 hours was professional and clearly written with appropriate photos attached. Will certainly recommend to others, and will use them for any future home inspection needs we have!"

"Bill and his helper Christian arrived to the house after our puppy made a mess on our carpet, they were able to remove the pet stains, and high traffic areas that other companies couldn’t remove. We are very pleased."

"The ASAP team was fantastic! They were very responsive and immediately came out to correct the emergency without hesitation. We then worked with the team on a remediation plan to dry the basement out, remove any damaged drywall and replace with new drywall. They left the area ready to re-paint. Was pleased with the team and the service every step of the way."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

Several different measurements may be used to determine the amount of lead in water. The most common unit of measurement is micrograms per liter (µg/L), which is the same as parts per billion. Another measurement is milligrams per liter (mg/L), which is the same as parts per million.

Some of the signs that could mean your water is contaminated, such as cloudiness or bubbliness, could also be non-problems that don’t affect your water’s potability. However, if your water smells or tastes strange, it’s a good idea to stop drinking it and test it immediately. If your well water is contaminated, the best way to discover that is to test it.

Some causes of brown well water—like excess tannins or dissolved iron—don’t pose a health risk. In other cases, harmful bacteria might be the culprit. If your well water has suddenly turned brown, it’s a good idea to use a home water test kit to get a better sense of what’s going on with your water. Consider calling a professional for an expert opinion before drinking the water and hoping for the best.
