"I was able to get a pest control visit scheduled pretty quickly after noticing the issue. Chris, the tech, was very knowledgeable and correctly predicted the source of the creepy nighttime noises in the subfloor above the bedroom - a "flying squirrel," which was eventually trapped/eliminated. (I had no idea we had them in the area.) Due to the design of our townhouse, he had to do some climbing to try to locate an entry point for the critter. No problem with Chris, and I would hire him again. However, the office staff failed to initiate promised follow ups - I had to do the call backs, hence the C rating on Responsiveness."

Spraying for mosquitos is better than fogging. A mosquito barrier spray is designed to linger on surfaces and kill mosquitos for up to three weeks, and repeated visits from your pest control pro can keep mosquitos out of your yard all season long. Fogging is a short-term fix that only works for about 72 hours and doesn't kill mosquito larvae or eggs. One of the most widespread chemicals used for killing termites is Fipronil. It’s one of the most common insecticides used by termite exterminators to kill termites fast. However, it’s toxic and generally used in outdoor areas only. Popular brand names of termite killers include Taurus, Bifen, Termidor, and BioAdvanced. All insecticides have pros and cons: Some are safer around humans but don’t last as long. Some may kill nearby plants or have power odors. While vinegar doesn’t get rid of spider webs that already exist, spraying a mixture of vinegar and water in areas where you’ve found webs before will deter spiders from rebuilding there. The acetic acid within vinegar can harm and kill spiders, so they’ll want to stay as far away from this strong-smelling substance as they can get. 

Gophers are ubiquitous in certain areas, and the only way to completely get rid of them is to put down gopher wire two feet below the surface of your soil and vertically along the edges of your yard. Scents like peppermint oil, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cloves, and mint are often suggested as natural remedies. To create a spray, you can mix two cups of warm water with half a cup of sugar and a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Apply this mixture using a spray bottle to possible entry points and throughout the affected area, such as an attic. While this home remedy is popular, evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited.
