"After purchasing the coupon from Angie's list, I received a phone call soon afterwards from them. They were very professional and knowledgeable. I asked many questions and felt no pressure to buy any additional services. So I did have them treat for mold spores and also clean our dryer vent for an additional fee which seem reasonable. Definitely will hire again."

"5 stars from start to finish. Nikki the scheduler/admin was very kind and patient in getting the details of my basement layout and communicated with owner John to ensure the correct diagnosis and remedy for my situation. I thought that I needed to have my crawl space encapsulated ($$$), but turns out that a remediation system in my utility room was the solution. The team arrived on time for install and took great care to put it in the least intrusive area of the room. Even though it required moving and replacing shelving. They also positioned the exterior vent pipe and fan in a place that wasn’t an eyesore. They also went above and beyond by recognizing and sealing a large gap in the foundation slab. Super clean and quality work. Unbelievable value. Couldn’t be happier."

"When this company came to inspect my home- where I thought there was a problem, I was immediately informed that I did not have a mold problem. He literally wiped what I thought was mold away with his hand, and told me use some Lysol to take care my bathroom cabinet. I am thankful for his honesty and the fact that I didn't have to spend any money for his services. If I ever develop mold in my home, my first choice would be mid-atlantic mold and restoration! The Gentleman that came out to inspect was very kind and knowledgeable!"

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) only recommends removing mold yourself if the area covers less than 10 square feet. Beyond that, you should hire a local mold remediation company for testing and removal. These companies are trained for the specific task of handling mold and removing it safely and responsibly. The mold removal experts will also be familiar with the different types of mold and the best ways to handle each one.

Musty smells often indicate the presence of mold, which can lead to various health risks. Inhalation of mold spores may trigger allergic reactions, causing sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. People who suffer from mold allergies or asthma may experience more severe respiratory problems. Certain types of mold, like black mold, can lead to mycotoxicosis, a condition associated with serious health effects like respiratory problems, fatigue, headaches, and skin irritation if exposure continues for an extended period. Those with weakened immune systems, respiratory problems, or allergies may be more vulnerable to the health risks that come with musty smells. Therefore, it is crucial to address and eliminate the source of the odor promptly.

Ensure proper ventilation, address leaks, and conduct regular inspections.

Although fiberglass dust is generally not considered toxic, inhaling excessive amounts of it can lead to health risks. Irritation to the respiratory system, eyes, and skin are common effects of fiberglass particle inhalation. While short-term exposure to the dust may only cause temporary discomfort, long-term or chronic exposure can lead to more severe respiratory problems.

Proper safety measures, such as wearing appropriate protective equipment, including masks and goggles, should be observed when handling or working with fiberglass materials to minimize health risks. It is important to note that, unlike asbestos, fiberglass is not associated with life-threatening illnesses.

Toxic black mold on wood appears as dark green or black patches. It often has a slimy or wet texture and may spread across the surface in a spotty pattern. The affected wood might appear discolored, soft, and damp. Identifying black mold early is crucial because it can cause severe health problems when its spores are released into the air. Prompt remediation is necessary to prevent further damage and health risks.
