"Chuck Hipp and his employee, Antonio, did a phenomenal job! The brick fireplace was sinking and the bricks were separating from the wall. After investigation Chuck determined that there were no footers under the fireplace. He installed new footers, supported the brick wall and reattached all the bricks and suggested the fireplace be covered with stucco and tiles to match the Spanish style of the house. The fireplace turned out beautifully and became the true focal point of the living room. The house was listed for sale and I know the beautiful stucco fireplace helped to sell the home quickly. We moved to our new 1948 house and discovered that the chimney needed to be rebuilt. I received a bid from A Step in Time chimney sweeps which was astronomical. I then consulted a structural engineer who confirmed the bid was outrageously high. He recommended a good brickmason be consulted. I found Chuck Hipp and Hipp Masonry Works on Angies List. Chuck investigated the problem and determined that the chimney needed to be torn down and rebuilt at the roof line and he was able utilize new bricks with old bricks to match the new chimney addition to the existing home and bottom half of the chimney. He asked me to drive around and take photos of chimneys I liked and he would duplicate it. I found a chimney on a beautiful older home and Chuck was able to duplicate it to suit my brick, Tudor home. It is gorgeous and best of all the fireplace can now be used for a beautiful wood fire. He then removed and replaced all the broken, damaged bricks throughout the exterior of the house using mainly old bricks salvaged room the chimney rebuild. Chuck and Antonio did incredible work and at half the price of the previous bid. Before they left they brought in topsoil to fill in any holes in our lawn due to the work and they used soil to regrade the back of the house which had been the cause of damage to lower bricks. They also repointed the front steps and remortered the boxes for the exterior porch lights which were hanging loose from the brick exterior. I will only call the HippMasonry Works for any brick work."

"How often does it happen that one of the lowest bids ends up being the best product and service? Rarely, but it really was in this case. We received 7 bids in total. One as high as $40,000.00 (get real). Anyway, Window Depot had outstanding service and was very responsive to our many questions and concerns as we were deciding which company to choose. We checked with all the big names and even 2 private contractors. Window Depot was within $100 of the lowest and because of the responsiveness of the owner, Steve, and their manager Summer the choice was easy. Even their mid grade window was very high quality. You could immediately notice a difference in reduced outside noise and comfort in the house. The installation crew, Cory and Adam, did a great job. They are both detail oriented, reliable, and friendly. They always showed up when scheduled and did an excellent job of cleaning up after the job, inside and out. I could not have been happier with the quality of the windows, their installation, or our interaction with the company. My wife and I have already recommended Window Depot to others and would strongly encourage Angie's list members to give them a call and get a quote if you are considering replacement windows."

"Made an appt. with Castle Rep, James, for 17 windows and vinyl siding. He spent 1 hour talking about how great his company and windows are before finally getting down to the issue. We were told that CASTLE makes and services their own window, with all the best technology and technicians available. The price per window for energy efficient came out to over $1,200 per double-hung window! And since they make their own products, we could not find a way to compare quality and price with other manufacturers. But his per-window price exceeds the average price of $500-700 by A LOT! When we balked, he made a call to his "manager" to see if we qualified for a "special promotional" discount. If we were to commit right there on the spot, we would get an additional 10% off! Still way to high. We said we would think about it (he got sad and snippy), and that we wanted to hear about the vinyl siding quote before we made any decisions. He told us he could not give us a siding quote until his company did an "eagle view" measurement, which would require another appointment! We had no intention of sitting through ANOTHER high-pressure appointment. High pressure, long-drawn out presentation and he would not leave us with anything in writing! No brochures, prices, nothing! He refused to put anything in writing and we could not have a break down of labor and costs. I even asked him if I could have a copyhh of the window warranty and he said "only if you purchase right now." And they did not come prepared with references or previous job locations! When we further researched the company, we found they did make very excellent products, but the #1 complaint was by far that they did not honor their lifetime warranty and that customer service was horrible. In the end, we chose not to do business.."

"Because of high demand for the service, it took a while to get the job completed. When we reached a mutually acceptable date, two men showed up at the appointed time to do the job. They were professional and very knowledgable. They did a beautiful joe laying the tile and cleaning-up the worksite. I was very pleased with the finished job.

"I interviewed 4 contractors before choosing Diana Construction to do my kitchen and dining room renovation.?They were cost competitive and the major reason I choose them was that Peter (owner) not only has the expertise and employees/subcontractors to ensure work is done correctly but could also help me design the project.?The other contractors were happy enough to create whatever I wanted but the problem was I was not sure what I wanted.?I had researched many different ideas and pictures but needed an expert to bounce ideas off of.?This is a value add that Peter has that created a kitchen/dining room that was beyond my dream.? The carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood floor.? The kitchen floor was already hardwood and it became apparent that we would not be able to match the color for the new floor.? Diana's floor subcontractor went above and beyond making the difference between the old and new floors seamless and the amount of work done by hand was impressive.? A doorway between the dining room and kitchen became a beautiful 6 foot opening.??Peter's understanding of the engineering made the change in a weight bearing wall safe and successful.? The dramatic impact with the wider?larger opening was beyond my imagination (although Peter knew all along that it would be just want I wanted!) The surprise plumbing we found in the wall and rerouting it didn't slow Peter down at all!? Diana Construction also repaired a plumbing error by another contractor that was causing an intermittent leak in the bathroom above the dining room and had caused the dining room ceiling to bow. The kitchen renovation was?a complete gutting.? New cabinets, granite, stone backsplash,?sink/faucet/garbage disposal, island, lighting, refrigerator and handmade window frame.?Peter worked with me to design the kitchen in?an efficient way that was also elegant and beautiful.? Being a townhouse, there?are space limitations but Peter found a way to include the upgrades I wanted that included a pantry, built in refrigerator and an island.? To that he added his special touches that I had not thought of which included under cabinet lighting, recessed lighting, wheels on the island so it could be moved, an overhang on the island that is a perfect sitting work space or hanging out with the cook, and building a new window frame for my floor to ceiling to floor front window.? Peter assisted with picking a paint that would compliment the granite. I chose and the living room color that I did not want to change.? He also recommended?a new hallway paint that would not clash with the new kitchen/dining room.?Rick, Diana Construction's tile expert, did an?impeccable job on my backsplash that created a beautiful focal point.? As our deadline approached and there were issues with the cabinet and granite vendors, Peter kept the pressure on to ensure our date was met.? He took my deadline on as his own and there was no way he was going to miss it! Peter was patient with me as I kept changing my mind about the new front door and checked several sources to find a stock door that I liked so we could avoid the extra cost of a custom door.? The result was a door that everyone that has seen it says "I love your new door!"? Always keeping his eye on details, Peter built a new door frame that matched my new kitchen window frame. Peter put the same care into even the more mundane parts of the job?like installing a utility sink replacement, having the entry hallway painted and replacing old ceiling lighting with recessed lights.? Every person I have been in contact with at Diana Construction as been professional, been expert in their trade and treated my home like their own.? I have already recommended Diana Construction to 3 friends who have been so impressed with what Diana Construction created in my home, that they just 'had to have them take care of work they need done!'? "While they were not free for 2 weeks, they accommodated my request for services ASAP, and came on a Sunday afternoon. Man and woman arrived with supplies except for vacuum. All my requests were completed. Thought the mopping of the wood floors was too wet, so I asked them not to finish. Need to use a steamer next time. Over 2 hrs."
