I am James Chambers of Chambers Contracting, have been installing and servicing fireplaces in Charlottesville and central Virginia for over 14 years. I take great pride in my long and distinguished history of serving the needs of new home builders and home owners. Locally owned and operated, Chambers Contracting, provides high quality services at affordable prices. The core of the company rests on our personal relationships with our clients. We build relationships with each project we undertake. We appreciate the process itself from installing a new fireplace for one of our clients, or renovating an existing home to make it more livable. Chambers Contracting, Philosophy: To work hard everyday. To strive to improve everyday. To keep our word. We believe our customers come first. Owned and Operated by James V. Chambers

"James is top-notch in every single way. We contracted him to install a new stove pipe to our 30+ year old home. James later returned to install a stove we had bought from another party. We were so pleased with absolutely everything James did. James was patient with us, answering questions and giving suggestions to help us stay on our budget! Both times James was at our home, you could not tell any work had been done. He is very meticulous in his work and leaves no trace. We highly recommend Chambers Contracting!"

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

Grill Repair questions, answered by experts

The green coloration that develops on copper roofs is called a “patina,” and it’s a result of mild oxidation on the surface. The oxidation process is not harmful to your roof. In fact, the surface corrosion acts as a protective layer and won’t spread to the core of your copper roof materials. The discoloration will progress much more quickly in damp or humid climates than it will in dry climates. If you don’t like the green color, you can seal your roof to preserve the shiny, rose-gold look.

The biggest complaint most homeowners have when it comes to metal roods is this material’s susceptibility to noise, particularly during heavy rain or hail. While some people appreciate the sound, others find it disruptive. Additionally, metal roofs can dent from impacts and may require regular inspections to ensure fasteners remain secure over time.

There are pros and cons to metal roofs. Some of the benefits of a metal roof include a long lifespan, multiple style options available, and improved energy efficiency in your home. The biggest drawbacks of metal roofing are the higher price tag and the noise. When rain falls on a metal roof, it tends to be louder compared to other roofing materials.

Copper roof strips offer better coverage and more damage protection than zinc roof strips. Although both deter moss and algae growth, copper also offers UV protection. Zinc strips require more strips than copper to cover the roof’s surface area, which means more holes in your roof. Copper strips are also more flexible and last longer than zinc strips.

Regular cleaning, inspecting for peeling or rust, and reapplying coatings every 8-12 years helps maintain durability.
