"Pyramid was recommended to us by a friend who has done a lot of remodeling and has priced granite in many locations in the area. She was right--after shopping around for a granite or quartz countertop for our guest bathroom remodel, Pyramid Granite had the best selection AND best price. We were looking for something that would coordinate with existing tile in the bathroom and it was easy to find several choices at Pyramid. They were very professional, helped us make a decision, came out to measure and delivered the product ON TIME. We ultimately settled on granite and our countertop is gorgeous--we will definitely be coming back when we remodel our primary bathroom! Ask for Temon--he is great!"

"This team was great! They were professional, ontime, quick, cleaned up after themselves and out in one afternoon. They estimated the project well, explained the process clearly and followed up with me. Their price was competitive and their granite selection was perfect. I would definately hire them again. I love my new countertops, sink and faucet."

"Very easy to work with from the beginning. I called and left a message and received a call back with 15 minutes. We were worried that our 50 sq foot basement bar project was too small but he came out the next day and talked to us about options and pricing (which is significantly lower than the big national stores and many of the other specialty stores). We were able to go to their warehouse to look at different options and impressed with the wide variety of options available - he was very conscious of our budget and didn t try to push us into options out of our price range. Install was less than a week later. They came back out and measured again. At install, there was a small backsplash piece that was a little too big, so they came back the next day to finish the job. They were very courteous of our home and did an excellent job from beginning to end. Would definitely hire for future projects."

"We used Sam to fully remodel our master bathroom and do some cosmetic work in our guest bathroom. We took down walls and started completely from scratch. Sam did all of the demolition, prep work, plumbing, electrical and installed some very intricate marble mosaic tile, for us on the floor of the bathroom and in the shower. Sam is punctual, responsive and extremely knowledgable about his craft. His men do incredible work when it comes to the finishes and he keeps a very clean workspace. All along the process Sam was present at the job and addressed any minor issues we had along the way immediately. You will not find any better bang for your buck in this area. I highly recommend him and we just hired him again to do even more work in our home."

"I am very picky and hard to please when it comes to home renovations. I have worked with many contractors over my 30 plus years as a homeowner and multiple rental property investor. And I have worked with my fair share of bad contractors. I can honestly say that I have never worked with a more professional, thorough and quality contractor. My renovation was extensive with all kitchen countertops and five bathroom countertops being replaced. The quote process was smooth and extremely accurate in the measurement of the countertops. The price was very competitive. The selection process of the specific slab was very detailed and Alex, our NK rep, was patient, informative and had great suggestions based on style and color of our existing cabinets, in suggesting slabs that would go with them. The installation was done on time with a very hardworking and diligent team. They maintained a clean workspace throughout the installation, were very detailed oriented and did a thorough quality control inspection after installation to ensure I was satisfied with the end result. I can't say enough good things about how this whole experience was. I would highly highly recommend them to anyone. Knowing the end result now, I would have gladly paid double of what I paid for the quality service and product. They are best in class in my opinion."

"Working with usa marble & granite was a breeze. I came in looking to replace my 17 year old kitchen countertops with a specific budget in mind & had a very limited budget. Without any hesitation Frank at the showroom showed me all the available options for my budget including their wide variety of remnant selection as well. After my order, within a week the old countertops were removed and the new ones were installed. I am very satisfied in every aspect from their lovely people, speed, and quality of workmanship. I would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their countertops."

"I actually missed my bathroom when we went out of town this summer. Adrian Dunn and the CCR crew made our bathroom dreams reality in our own home. No longer do we need to travel to have lovely and luxurious fittings around us. We received good advice on locating suppliers for all our components and were able to benefit from the relationships CCR has in the home improvement community. Especially with our Quartz Counter tops, I was able to see products from 3 providers and select the material that best fit my vision and my price point. The work was well done. The fit and finish is good. I was so impressed with the artistry of Raphael, the tile installer, that I took to addressing him as Maestro. My shower enclosure and marble tile floor makes me very happy every day. About once a week my husband tells me how much he enjoys the new rain shower system. Thank you, everyone!"

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:

  • Marble tile: $7–$10

  • Granite tile: $5–$15

  • Marble slab: $25–$60

  • Granite slab: $50–$100

Rubbing alcohol won’t damage most countertops, and you can mix it with water to create a disinfecting spray to keep your kitchen clean. It’s safer than using bleach on countertops, which can stain and cause discoloration. Be careful with rubbing alcohol when it comes to lacquered or varnished surfaces, though.

Engineered stone is nonporous, unlike natural stone, and does not need to be sealed. You do not have to worry about etching or bacterial growth. It is more durable than natural stone and concrete, as well as highly heat resistant. Engineered stone is easy to clean and maintain. You can wipe it down with warm water and soap. Use a non-scratch scrub pad for stains and avoid any harsh cleaners. Engineered stone can even be eco-friendly, with some manufacturers using waste byproducts or organic resins.

Due to the acidity, using vinegar to clean quartz countertops can actually damage them. In fact, doing so can cause discoloration and surface damage in the quartz. While it’s possible to clean other countertops, like laminate, tile, and butcher block, with vinegar, it’s best to stay from this cleaning solution if you have quartz in your kitchen or bathroom.

No, soapstone does not crack easily. The softness of the material protects it from cracking but makes it prone to other types of damage such as scratches. Scratches may need to be buffed out occasionally using fine-grit sandpaper. You can also conceal minor scratches in your soapstone countertops by rubbing the surface with mineral oil.
