"A tree fell and pulled the electric line from the house. Power had to be cut off untill line repaired. I was very impressed by him going beyond to ensure electricity could be turned on ASAP. He was very helpful and cost was very fair considering it was an emergency job. No other company was willing to complete in the weekend. He worked with me closely and professionally. I will definitely keep his number for any future needs!"

"We really wanted to give Wisler Plumbing an excellent review because Brian Wisler and every worker was very likable, considerate, and courteous. We were impressed with Brian's professionalism when presenting the proposal for our MBR renovation. He provided an itemized list of materials, detailed scope of work, and daily timeline. His quote was in line with the other estimates we received. We appreciated Brian's willingness to accommodate specific design elements we wanted. He offered valuable advise and suggestions in the design process, and spent a considerable amount of time assisting in the selection of fixtures and tile options. However, there were certain issues encountered during the renovation which we felt were not up to the standard of excellence which we expected.
The Wisler crew was usually punctual and communicated sufficiently throughout the project. They covered the flooring throughout the work area with a quality protective covering. The demo process went fairly smoothly, except several drywall screws were pushed out of the adjacent hall and closet walls, which was later repaired. They did a satisfactory job with the framing, rough-in plumbing and electrical. The drywall/plaster crew's work was less than satisfactory. They mixed drywall compound in the bedroom (splattering compound on the walls) when they could have mixed the compound in the bathroom where mess was not an issue. In our contract, we specifically requested to skim the walls (with plaster.) They skimmed the walls with drywall compound (softer than plaster); subsequently, every time something bumps into the walls, the compound chips requiring patching and re-painting.
We were very impressed with Nathan, the tile installer. He was meticulous, offered experienced advice, and did an excellent job with the tile installation. He even worked through the weekend to maintain the work schedule. The tile looks fantastic and I would highly recommend Nathan for any tile work.
We were also impressed with Roanoke Glass, who fabricated and installed the glass shower enclosure and mirrors. We specifically requested obscured tempered glass for the shower, but the wrong glass was ordered. The gentleman from Roanoke Glass was very accommodating; and although his time and material was wasted, he exhibited considerable patience and professionalism.
Another issue was that after the tile installation, the existing door frames were 1/2" above the floor. When the original floor tile and underlayment was removed and replaced with Schluter membrane and new tile, it left a very noticeable gap between the tile and door frames. They filled in the gaps with caulk, which was an easy and reasonable remedy...but considering the cost of this project, it doesn't reflect superior quality work.
The concerns we had with Wisler's performance was a result of their carelessness and inattention to detail. We don't believe they do inferior work, but they often neglected to follow specifications in the scope of work. The schedule was disregarded near the end, therefore the job was not completed on time (2 weeks over.) To his credit, Brian addressed and attempted to resolve the issues we had to the best of his ability; but some issues (like the drywall compound skimmed walls) could not be repaired. Overall, we are satisfied with the renovation...but there were certainly some unnecessary complications along the way. Although the Wisler crew was very cordial and courteous, we will probably consider other contractors for future projects.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Salem, frequent breaker trips, flickering or dimming lights, and outdated electrical panels are common warning signs. If you notice missing GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, mismatched wiring, or evidence of moisture damage—especially after humid summers—these are red flags. Unpermitted or DIY electrical work is also a concern. Scheduling an inspection ensures your system meets local safety standards and supports modern appliance loads.

Helpful?

When reviewing electrical work quotes in Salem, be wary of unusually low bids, requests for cash-only payments, or contractors who avoid discussing permits. Lack of proof of insurance, vague project details, or reluctance to share references from Salem homeowners are also concerns. Choose professionals who clearly outline the project scope, provide warranty information, and explain the steps required for safe, code-compliant electrical upgrades.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Salem offers immediate benefits like improved safety, reduced fire risk, and more reliable power during stormy weather. Upgrading to modern wiring or adding surge protection can lower the chance of outages. Long-term, energy-efficient lighting and updated electrical panels can boost your home’s value and appeal, while preparing your property for future technology and supporting Salem’s trend toward smart home features.

Helpful?

If your Salem home was built before 1990, has frequent breaker issues, or features outdated electrical panels, it’s wise to consider an upgrade. Planning projects before adding major appliances or listing your home for sale is also beneficial. Seasonal changes—especially after spring storms or during fall maintenance—are ideal times to address electrical concerns and ensure your system is safe and up to code.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work in Salem with other home upgrades, such as kitchen remodels or HVAC installations, can streamline the process and reduce disruptions. Coordinating projects during Salem’s busy construction season, typically spring through fall, helps ensure better contractor availability. This approach also minimizes repeated wall openings and inspections, making it easier to update wiring, outlets, and electrical panels to meet current safety codes.
