"The house has a limited amount of guttering so it wasn't an expensive job although another company wanted to charge us $1900- which is a big saving. It went well. I liked the person that talked to us and the guys that did the work got here on time and called us to give us a heads up when they were coming. They were late but called to warn us that they were running over time at their previous job but did it on the day they said they would. The sales pitch from both companies was that they would completely clean and refill all the gutters - make sure that there were no leaks and make sure that the attachments to the floor were running properly. However, that wasn't done - they didn't do that. As it turns out, my gutters weren't that old and they seemed to be working fine- it is not like there is a problem. They came out to test the gutters but didn't run any water and I never saw them with any caulking and so they didn't comply with that promise part of the service. It had been raining and gutters seem to be flowing fine and the guards are in place."

"Glenn Lilly of Shenandoah Home Improvements came to my home, inspected my roof, showed me the materials he used & explained his crew & work ethic. He provided me with an estimate to replace my roof that was lower than anyone else's, using the same roofing material, full insurance coverage (for the company & workers) and he was easy to deal with. The crew showed up on time, when promised; cleanup was a continual process (no nails or scraps left laying around) and the job was completed without delay or need to call back. Shenandoah sub-contracted replacement of the gutters & downspouts. That, too, was completed satisfactorily & in a timely manner. Overall, what Shenandoah did for me was half again as much as I'd initially requested bids on, and cost me less than the other bids obtained for the roof alone. I'd recommend them anytime to anyone!!"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Before starting gutter repair in Roanoke, review your HOA’s rules and historic district guidelines, especially for homes in Old Southwest or Grandin Village. Document existing gutter and fascia damage for insurance purposes. Schedule work outside of peak leaf-drop or storm periods to avoid weather delays. Ensure your driveway and yard are accessible for contractors, and verify your chosen materials suit Roanoke’s humid climate and rainfall patterns.

Helpful?

In Roanoke, you can address minor gutter maintenance by clearing pine needles and oak leaves, tightening loose gutter hangers, and using gutter sealant for small cracks. Always place your ladder securely on Roanoke’s often uneven terrain and avoid working after heavy rainfall. For homes with slate roofs or multi-story layouts common in Roanoke’s older neighborhoods, it’s safest to call a professional gutter repair service.

Helpful?

Roanoke’s climate, with its spring downpours, summer thunderstorms, and heavy autumn leaf fall, puts extra strain on rain gutters and downspouts. Winter freeze-thaw cycles can cause gutter seams to expand and lead to ice dams. The best times for gutter repair or cleaning are early spring and late fall, when weather is milder. Durable aluminum or copper gutters are recommended for Roanoke’s variable weather and seasonal debris.

Helpful?

In Roanoke, most minor gutter repair projects—like sealing leaks, reattaching rain gutters, or replacing damaged downspouts—take about 2–4 hours. Moderate repairs, such as fixing sagging gutters on historic brick homes, may require a full day. Full gutter replacement or repairs on steep, older roofs can extend to 1–3 days, especially during Roanoke’s busy spring and fall gutter maintenance seasons.

Helpful?

Combining gutter repair with roof inspections, siding repair, or gutter cleaning in Roanoke is efficient, especially for homes with mature trees and brick exteriors. Many contractors in Roanoke offer bundled services, which can streamline scheduling and reduce disruption. Pairing gutter work with seasonal maintenance like tree trimming or foundation checks helps protect your home from Roanoke’s frequent storms and heavy leaf accumulation.
