"Working with usa marble & granite was a breeze. I came in looking to replace my 17 year old kitchen countertops with a specific budget in mind & had a very limited budget. Without any hesitation Frank at the showroom showed me all the available options for my budget including their wide variety of remnant selection as well. After my order, within a week the old countertops were removed and the new ones were installed. I am very satisfied in every aspect from their lovely people, speed, and quality of workmanship. I would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their countertops."

"Carlos and his team performed many small and large projects for us over the past year and they always put the customer first and get the job done right. They just completed a backyard patio and a full master bath remodel, all done at the same time and were excellent to work with."

"I contacted Granite Vision and spoke with Roni, explaining that because the vanity was in an awkward place in this small bathroom, I needed help to decide what was required. Joseph and another member came within a couple of days to assess the situation, make recommendations, and take measurements. Joseph then emailed pictures of various granite slabs since I was unable to get to their site, and within a week his team installed the top, offset sink, and my faucet. Both their installer and plumber readily answered all questions. Also, because I have add'l bathroom remodeling to do, I asked Joseph for any recommendations he may have for providers with whom he's worked who do smaller jobs and are good. He did make some recommendations and responded quickly to any questions I had regarding these providers. I highly recommend Granite Vision not only for the quality of their product but also for their professionalism and support."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

Deciding between marble and granite for kitchen countertops depends on your personal priorities, budget, and style. Both materials have similar costs for material and installation.

Marble offers a luxurious aesthetic and timeless beauty, but it is more expensive and requires more maintenance. It is susceptible to staining and etching from acidic substances like coffee, wine, or tomato sauce if spills are not cleaned up quickly.

Granite is highly durable, heat-resistant, and easier to maintain, making it a practical choice for busy kitchens.

Both materials should be sealed to protect against damage, but they can still be vulnerable to stains if spills are left on the surface for too long.

Engineered stone is nonporous, unlike natural stone, and does not need to be sealed. You do not have to worry about etching or bacterial growth. It is more durable than natural stone and concrete, as well as highly heat resistant. Engineered stone is easy to clean and maintain. You can wipe it down with warm water and soap. Use a non-scratch scrub pad for stains and avoid any harsh cleaners. Engineered stone can even be eco-friendly, with some manufacturers using waste byproducts or organic resins.

Beyond landscaping, limestone has multiple uses. For example, there are multiple pros and cons to limestone countertops, such as a lower cost compared to other types of stone and heat resistance. Limestone is also a key ingredient in limewash, a type of paint with a chalky texture. Other uses for limestone include siding, retaining walls, and mixed into cement.

Engineered stone is known for its durability, lasting 15 to 20 years or longer. Of course, this range assumes high-quality materials and regular maintenance. After a couple of decades, the stone will start showing its age. Watch for discoloration, fading, stains, and burns, but it’s unlikely that engineered stone will experience structural failure.
