Corey and his team did an amazing job painting our ceilings, trim, walls, and doors. Corey offered suggestions and guided us through the process as we selected colors, shades, and quality of paint. His team perfectly prepared the interior removing picture hanging nails, curtains and rods, sanding down and prepping for painting. Even after applying two coats on our front door, the paint was bleeding through so they painted the door again! Attention to detail!👍 Salem painting saved us thousands of dollars compared with other estimates and delivered superior results! The distance between fence posts is guided by the terrain you’re installing them on, the purpose of the fence, and the material it’s made of. For the average wooden garden fence, posts should be about 6 to 8 inches apart. But if you’re going with a mesh, wire, lattice, or chain link fence, you could set the fence posts anywhere from 6 to 25 feet apart. 

There are two things you can do to make a fence replacement easier—but keep in mind that easier doesn’t mean better. First, you can use a jack or some other type of machinery to pull the post out of the ground. If that’s not available, a digging bar can help.

Second, you can backfill the hole with gravel rather than creating a concrete footing. Keep in mind, gravel is less secure. You should only use it if you’re installing a lightweight fence or have heavier, clay soil.

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.

Ideally, your concrete should set slightly above ground at an angle sloping away from the fence post. This will add extra support and allow water to run away from the wood fence post. Keeping water out will help prevent wood rot. Additionally, you can add soil on top of the concrete for a seamless finish.
