"Everyone involved were friendly and honest. The crew was on time, did a great job - finished our roof in one day and left the yard clean. Our roof was in great need of some repair as well as needing shingles replaced. We would recommend Homefix to anyone."

"Absolutely amazing experience with Veterans Choice Roofing! From start to finish, everyone I dealt with was professional, polite and honest. My roof was damaged in a storm last year and I had it repaired 2 other times by other contractors, but the leaking persisted. No fix. Veterans Choice came in, did a thorough analysis of what and where the issue was, and then fixed it for far less than I paid the other 2 contractors that did not fix it. I wish I knew about them the first time, I would have had this problem fixed a year ago! Once I decided on Veterans Choice, I spoke with Dylan and explained my frustration at not having the problem fixed by the other companies. Dylan told me they were going to find and fix the problem, and guaranteed it. I chose Veterans Choice and they set up the repair date. They came early in the morning (0730), were prepared and professional. Awesome A+++ service! I HIGHLY recommend if you want an honest, clean and professional job completed."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Fall is generally considered the best time of year for roof repairs. The weather is temperate and typically drier, which makes for safer working conditions and fewer delays. The days are also still long enough to complete the work.

Spring is another good option and is a popular time for repairs to fix damage from winter storms. However, frequent rainfall can slow down progress. Spring may be a less busy season for roofers than fall.

Summer can also work for roof repairs, but extreme heat can make asphalt shingles too soft and difficult to work with.

Underlayment exists under your tile roof. It helps protect your home by acting as a secondary water barrier. Often, when roof tiles fall off, underlayment that's in good condition can temporarily keep water from getting into the home. However, immediate replacement of missing tiles is crucial to avoid additional roof damage.

The type of roof and roofing materials that are best for your mobile home depends primarily on its shape and slope. Rubber materials, such as EPDM and TPO, are best for flat, low-sloped, or bowed mobile home roofs. Asphalt shingles or metal roofing are best for mobile homes with sloped rooflines.

The placement of snow guards depends on the individual roof, but typically snow guards are placed between 12 and 18 inches from the eaves, though they can be placed as close as six inches and as far as 24 inches from the eaves. A roofing professional can assess the roof and potential snow loads to determine the best placement.

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.
