"The plumber was on time (actually a few minutes early) and quickly fixed the bathroom sink drain. While he was on site, my roommate suggested that we get him to also unclog the shower drain - it wasn't nearly as bad as the sink, but we figured we might as well since he was already there (save on another potential service call later on) and he offered to do it for an extra $20. When we mentioned that we were Angie's List members, he exceeded the 5% off by not charging us for unclogging the shower. I was very pleased by the prompt, courteous service and will be sure to call Flinn's the next time I need a plumber."

"Great company to hire and to have work done. The crew works hard to make sure the prep work is done almost properly. They encapsulated the crawlspace, installed a sump pump & dehumidifier. All within days. I am hiring them again to level the house."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

Costs depend on clog severity, pipe condition, equipment required, and labor.

Chemical drain cleaners can work to clear clogs in pipes, but their use should be approached with caution. These harsh chemicals can damage pipes over time, and they can also harm the environment. Use them sparingly and consider alternative methods such as using a plunger or a drain snake. If you have concerns about a persistent clog, it's best to consult a professional who can safely and effectively address the issue without causing further damage to your plumbing system.

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.
