"VKB far exceeded out expectations for our new kitchen design and installation; as well as, the resurfacing and stain/varnish to my existing floors and stairs. My wife and I are very pleased with the final outcome. Money was well spent. Base on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend their services again. Jack and Suzanne McClinton."

"I was getting frustrated with local electricians and home renovators - just trying to get quotes was a nightmare of un-returned phone calls, missed appointments, and general disinterest.  Then I contacted SciFiHomes.  They immediately made an appointment to visit and see what was involved.  They came exactly as promised, and in a few days provided a very detailed quote - far and away the most professional I have seen in 17 years in this area and over $100,000 in home renovation projects.

Even before the generator was in hand - I ordered it myself - Marshall and Tony came out to set the concrete pavers as the base for the unit.  On January 4, they set the unit in place.  On January 9 and 10, with propane plumbing completed and the power company scheduled to come to disconnect the mains power , they returned to do the electrical work.

The installation was done in an extremely meticulous and professional manner.  The hardest part of the job, it turned out, was re-configuring the house's main panel as a sub-panel, as required by the electrical code.  Our panel was disastrously crowded inside, the result of adding circuits piecemeal over the years.  Marshall worked until 6 o'clock in the evening, shortening, re-routing, and otherwise cleaning up the panel.  Among other things, he found one 220V breaker that had a stripped terminal, which could have resulted in a fire, or at least failure of the circuit, and replaced it with one from his stock.  The finished job looks like a *real* electrician did it, which certainly was not the case before.

The external components went the same way.  Marshall and Tony took unusual care to make sure the auto transfer switch was physically secure on our very old, out-of-square house.  They used flexible conduit to route all the necessary connections between the generator and the ATS.  They took special pains to secure wiring physically, even when it would not be seen, as a reliability measure.

SciFiHomes did all the necessary coordination with the propane supplier and electric utility, secured the electrical permit and scheduled the inspection.  Everything went off like clockwork.  When they finished the job yesterday, they made sure I knew how the generator would operate, and walked me through steps to be taken in case of any problems.

The only cost growth ($170) was due to changes we made after the original estimate and contract were prepared.

All in all, this was the best single experience we have had with a contractor in our 17 years here."

"We were very happy with JES, they were professional and punctual. I would however not recommend their subcontractor for drywall repair after JES work. They were rude, did not show up on time and never even introduced themselves. So in conclusion: loved JES, but get your own drywall repair contractor."

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.
