"It is with deep satisfaction that I recommend Grady?s Painting and Plastering & Construction. Mr. George Grady is a skilled craftsman. He was hired to correct long neglected and extensive masonry and window issues on a large, beautiful Presbyterian Church built in the Civil War era in Philadelphia. The property was neglected with only minimal maintenance performed over the last 40+ years. The building was in severe decline and in need of stabilization and restoration on many fronts. Cracked ledge plates were chipped out and reestablished, internal walls damaged by leakage were broken out and repaired, brickwork was repointed and in severe cases reestablished to original strength and beauty. Leaks around the base of the building were addressed to stabilize deterioration of the foundation. Large rotted window sills under beautiful stained glass windows were restored after significant masonry reestablishment due to water damage under the rotted out sills. Broken and missing stained glass windows are in the process of repair and replacement. The process started with new metal frames cast by Mr. Grady. The new frames will hold clear painted replications of the original stained glass, also crafted by Mr. Grady. Regular windows all around the church and manse were also repaired and restored. Roof leaks were accurately identified and repaired. A sagging plaster ceiling has been torn out and restored. All this work was done by Mr. Grady alone or with an occasional helper. He worked with care, expertise and respect for the original structure. The results far exceeded our expectations and have injected new life into a building on the brink. This building, owned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, now houses a new urban ministry in a newly gentrifying area of the city. We are happy to have had the good fortune to be connected to Grady's Painting and Plastering & Construction"

"I have hesitated to write this review because the company was supposed to send someone out to do a touchup the next time they were in my area, but they never came.  Since where the touch up is needed (a corner of the tub) isn't really noticeable to me, and as more and more time went by, I just let it go. This is the reason I downgraded "responsiveness" to a B. Otherwise I would have given an A grade because the men who did the work were excellent.
My advice: Don't pay immediately after the job is finished but wait for a bill. That way if something needs to be fixed, the company will have an incentive to send someone out. Since I had already paid in full, there was no such incentive.
I was surprised at the size of the exhaust hose that is used while the tub finish is being applied. Because my bathroom is small, the hose had to go down the front hall and out the front door. Fortunately, the weather was not cold. The finish had to cure before the rest of the work could be completed. The smell wasn't pleasant, but it was tolerable.
I don't remember if it was the next day or two days later that the wall surround was put up over the existing tile, the ceiling lined, and a new drain and new fixtures installed. The installer was a different man from the one who had applied the glaze. He worked very hard, as it wasn't an easy job, due to some irregularities in the bathtub tile area. He also screwed in the grip bars that had to be removed before the wall lining could go up.
All in all I was satisfied with the work, although the caulking that was used gets moldy, and the mold is hard to remove. The wall surround and ceiling, however, do not attract mold, hallelujah.  I thought the price was right. I'm glad I had the work done.

To sand and mud took 2 days' worth of work and painting the ceilings and rooms took 2 more. William and his crew showed up promptly and were never late. Roberto performed most of the work and he is very skilled. William showed up each day to check on the crew/work and update us on their status. William bought all the paint/supplies and performed all of the work with no deposit. The final bill was the same as his estimate--no hidden costs. "I highly recommend GK Painting. We asked Gary to paint the entire townhouse: walls, ceilings, trim, closets, and doors - and we are thrilled with the results. We were sold when Gary first bid the job. He didn't simply give a cost estimate. He discussed colors, type of paint, and the way a few strategic accent walls could create a new look. His consultation helped us find a good color match with the existing floors and cabinets (which we didn't want to change). "Nafi, as the owner of Home Design Center, visited our home and evaluated our situation. He gave us advice on what was needed to make the basement a really enticing room that we would want to spend time in. He listened and took the time to understand what we were looking for.  We started with flooring.  We wanted a low-maintenance floor that would stand up well and be mold-resistant. He invited us into the showroom on Tyco Road in Vienna, VA to look at different types of flooring that met these requirements. Nafi was there to advice us on color schemes and lighting. He recommended we have an accent wall, which we decided to go with, and aesthetically it makes for a much more interesting room.  
When the flooring and paint were ordered and arrived, he and his team got to work.  They are organized, and worked carefully and efficiently. They re-did all the crown molding, and ensured there were multiple coats of paint on the walls  They don't nickle and dime. For example, the ceiling required many coats of paint. They kept putting on the additional coats of paint until it looked right. They will do what they need to do to exceed customer expectations. They had to re-do the banister because the original one -- an amateur job from the original owner -- did not look right with the refurbished basement.  He essentially provided the banister at no extra charge. The project came together very well -- the recessed lighting, flooring, walls, crown molding, painting -- all were completed within the timeline and budget we agreed on.
I believe Nafi and his team are dedicated professionals. They do quality work; they are ethical. They do not want to sell you something you're not interested in, or over charge. They give you honest work -- and provide quality -- at reasonable prices. They have my highest recommendation.
